청소년기 태권도장 수련생의 중도포기 이유와 개선방안 (Reasons and Improvement Measures for Abandonment of Taekwondo Center trainees in Adolescence)

초록

The purpose of this study is to find out the reasons for giving up taekwondo among adolescent taekwondo trainee of taekwondo academy and to find ways to improve them. Qualitative research method with a nomadic sampling method was conducted which is a non-probability sampling method.
It was targeted to participants who were suitable for the research problem, and in-depth interviews were conducted for data collection.
The participants of the study were ten currently training trainees who had experience of given up in the middle among adolescent trainees in taekwondo, five parents of trainees, two taekwondo association officials, and four taekwondo supervisors of academy. Conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews was transcribed into text and triangular verification was performed to derive the results.
Study results shows that the internal factors of giving up of taekwondo training in adolescence were the loss of the value of taekwondo training, lack of program contents according to training level and duration, lack of competence and qualities of the supervisor and instructor, and the financial burden of parents. In the mean while difficulties in academic parallelism, the lack of appropriate and suitable program and teaching method distribution by Kukkiwon and the Korea Taekwondo Association, and the poor value of the official examination system. Following the reason, study suggest that the quality of Taekwondo youth trainees' quality, level, and class-specific programs, and communication with parents are important, and it is necessary to strengthen the professionalism of the director and instructor. It suggest that the necessity to disseminate the teaching method of the department, regular refresher education of traditional taekwondo, fairness and accuracy of the Kukkiwon evaluating system, consideration for parents, and diversification of the entrance examination system at the level of national policy.
