靑銅器時代 무덤과 葬制의 變化 (Changes of Tombs and Funeral System in the Bronze Age – Focusing on Chuncheon Area)

초록

청동기시대 장제 변화를 살펴보기 위하여 춘천 지역 청동기시대 무덤의 묘제와 매장주체부 규모, 그리고 장제와의 상관관계에 대해서 검토하였다. 그 결과 매장주체부 길이 1.6m를 기준으로 신전장과 굴장으로 구분되는데, 이 기준에 따르면 춘천 지역 청동기시대 전기 전엽에 목관묘가 처음 조영되면서 피장자를 신전장의 방식으로 매장하였으며, 주구묘와 석축식 석관묘가 조영되는 전기 중엽에 굴장이 출현하였다.
청동기시대 중기에는 지석묘가 조영되면서 이차장의 장제가 출현한다. 신전장과 굴장 등의 일차장은 전 시기에 비해 비율이 감소하고 대신에 이차장 비율이 크게 증가하는데, 지석묘 매장주체부의 70% 가량이 길이 0.9m 이하로 제작되었다.
화장묘는 전기 전엽에 목관 내에서 피장자를 바로 편 자세로 화장(A1유형)과 더불어 매장하는 일차장의 형태로 출현하지만, 매장주체부가 목관에서 석관으로 변화하면서 전기 후엽에는 석관 내에서 목관 없이 피장자를 화장(A2유형)하는 방식으로 변화한다. 매장주체부 길이로 보아 굴장 자세로 화장, 매장되었을 것으로 추측된다. 또한 중기 중엽에 묘광 내에서 피장자를 화장한 후에 그 상부에 형식적으로 매장주체부를 조영하는 화장(B유형)이 유행하고 중기 후엽 또는 후반에 외부에서 화장한 인골을 석관 내에 안치하는, 이차장 형태의 화장(C유형)이 출현한다. 이와 같이 매장주체부 규모의 축소 과정은 장제 변화에 따른 것인데, 화장 역시 동일한 변화 과정을 보여준다.

영어초록

This paper examines the correlation with the burial system, the size of the internment pit, and the funeral system in Chuncheon area to investigate the transition of the funeral system in the Korean Bronze age. As a result, it is classified into the extended burials and flexed, or crouched burials based on the 1.6m length of the central part of the internment. According to this standard, in Chuncheon area in the first half of the early Bronze age, the wooden coffin was first produced, and the dead were buried in the manner of the extended burials. On the other hand, the flexed burials emerged in the second half of the early Bronze age, when the moated graves and stone-build type stone coffins were made. In the middle Bronze Age, the funeral system of the secondary inhumation emerged with the dolmens. Accordingly, instead of decreasing the proportion of the first burials such as extended and flexed, the secondary inhumation increased, and approximately 70% of dolmen burial pits were made to be less than 0.9m in length. In the first half of the early Bronze age, the cremation graves appeared in the form of the primary burials in which the dead with the extended body in the wooden coffin was cremated (A1 type) and then buried. However, in the second half of the early Bronze age, as the coffin type changed from wood to stone, it changed into a way of cremating the dead without the wood coffin inside the stone coffin (A2 type) in the first half of the early Bronze age. It is presumed that the body was interred in a fetal position as seen from the length of the burial pits. Also, the method that the upper part of the mound was made after cremating the buried person in the burial pit (B type) was popular in the middle part of the middle Bronze age. The secondary inhumation type of cremation that the human bones cremated from the outside put inside the stone coffin (C type) appeared in the late part of the middle Bronze age. This process of reducing the size of the burial pit is based on the change of the funeral system, and the cremation also exhibits the same process of the change.
