The Effect of Parent-Child Communication, Peer Relationship on Adolescents Internet Culture

초록

The purpose of this study is to validate the effect of parent‐ child communication and peer relationship on adolescents Internet addiction. To achieve this goal, the survey was conducted targeting 234 students at two junior high schools and 216 students at two high schools located in Daejeon. 447 questionnaires were collected but 47 questionnaires containing missing and unfaithful answers were excluded. A total of 400 questionnaires(208 junior high school students, 192 high school students) was analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0. Analysis results are as follows : First, upon examining the relationships among the parent‐child communications, peer relationship and Internet addiction, father open mind type which is sub variable of parent‐child communications and Internet addiction showed statistically significantly negative correlation between all sub variables except disturbance of daily living, disturbance of reality testing, withdrawal, deviate behavior and tolerance. Mother open mind type showed statistically significantly negative correlation between all sub variables except disturbance of daily living, disturbance of reality testing, deviate behavior and tolerance.
Mother problem type showed statistically significantly negative correlation between all sub variables except disturbance of daily living and disturbance of reality testing. Second, according to the results from multiple regression analysis, it was shown that variables which explain Internet addiction very well were the duration of friendship, father problem type and reliability with friend. As a result, since the main variable to predict the adolescents Internet addiction is duration of friendship, we would like to present the necessity to conduct more in‐depth study about relationship between duration of friendship which is the sub variable of scale for peer relationship and Internet addiction and to develop the program.
