초록

이 글은 1983년 3월 19일 창립한 한국동서학회 35주년 연구사를 중심으로 동양철학 연구의 현황과 전망을 살펴보기 위해 기획된 것이다. 이 글의 검토대상은 한국동서철학회가 1984년 6월 25일 발행한 『동서철학연구』 창간호부터 2018년 12월 31일 발행한 제90호까지 총 90권에 수록된 동양철학 연구논문들이다. 이 글은 한국연구재단의 연구분류표를 기준으로 동양철학분야의 연구 성과를 동양철학과 한국철학으로 구분하고 이를 다시 분야별 세부영역으로 분류함으로써 대분류, 중분류, 소분류의 측면에서 검토한 것이다. 그 결과 동양철학 연구가 한국철학 연구보다 상대적으로 많았음을 확인하였고, 그 가운데 중국철학 연구와 한국유가철학 연구가 주도적이었음을 확인하였다. 특히 2000년대 이후 인물별 연구 분석을 통해 드러난 상위 연구대상은 중국철학의 경우 노자와 장자, 한국철학의 경우 율곡 이이였음을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 현황은 논문 게재자의 전공분야 및 활동지역을 비롯한 한국동양철학계의 전반적인 연구경향성을 반영하고 있다. 또한 이와 같은 현황을 통해 볼 때 연구 참여자들의 로컬리티가 학술지의 주요 강점으로 자리매김 되는데, 그것은 동시에 학술지의 한계로 지적될 요소이기도 하다. 학술지의 글로컬리즘이 요청되는 이유이다. 한국동서철학회가 향후 보다 발전적인 철학담론의 생산을 도모하고자 한다면 연구 참여자의 지역적 확장 및 주제별 연구범위의 확대 등 다양한 개선노력이 필요하다. 뿐만 아니라, 제4차 산업혁명시대에 부응할 수 있는 보다 현실적인 철학담론의 장을 이끌어내는 것이 필요해 보인다. 이를 통해 동양철학 연구의 방향성이 보다 현실적이고 미래지향적인 이념 창출을 위해 이바지할 필요가 있다고 본다.

This writing is designed to examine the Current Situation and Prospect of Eastern Philosophy Studies focusing on the study history of the 35th year of the Korean Society for Philosophy East-West. The objects under examination in this writing are the research papers of eastern philosophy contained in the complete 90 volumes from the first issue of the Korean Society for Philosophy East-West that was published on June 25, 1984 to the 90th issue published on December 31, 2018. This writing classified the research performance of the eastern philosophy part into eastern philosophy and Korean philosophy, based on the research classification table of National Research Foundation of Korea, and then classified this into detailed parts; examined in aspect of large, medium, and small classifications. As a result, I verified that the volume of research of eastern philosophy was relatively more than that of Korean philosophy, and the research of Chinese philosophy and Korean Confucianism philosophy was greatest. In particular, the highest research objects revealed through the research analysis of writers since 2000 have been verified to be Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu in the case of Chinese philosophy, and Yulgok in the case of Korean philosophy. This current research situation reflects the overall research tendency of Korean eastern philosophy as well as their major fields of study and the field of activities of those who submit papers. In addition, in terms of this current situation, participants' locality becomes the main advantage of the academic journal, and that, at the same time, can be an element to be pointed out as a limit. This is why the globalism of the academic journal is required. If the Korean Society for Philosophy East-West is to produce more developed philosophical discussion in the future, a variety of efforts for improvement such as the expansion of research participants' locality, that of the research scope of topics, etc. is required. In addition, that which drives the field of more realistic philosophical discussion which can satisfy the Fourth Industrial Revolution is seen to be needed. Through this, the research direction of eastern philosophy needs to contribute to producing more realistic and future-oriented ideas.
