초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the trends on picture book research papers which were published after 2000. 131 research papers were analyzed and used in this study. Descriptive statistics were applied. The major findings of this study are as follows:
First, picture books related activities were the major theme in this study followed by the effect of picture books on children’s language development.
Second, studies based on children were the main subject. 3~50 children participated in this research. Children at the age of 5 was the most popular in the study.
Last, experimental design was the most frequently used research type.
In experimental design, test’s were used the most and more than half conducted preliminary research. A period of 1 to 8 weeks of research was the most popular.
