초록

최근 몇 년 동안 무협 애니메이션 영화는 중국 영화 시장에서 큰 인기를 얻는 분야가 되었다. 이러한 추세에 따라 미국 할리우드 영화를 참고한 중국 영화 <레전드 오브 래빗> 시리즈 영화가 큰 기대를 받았으나 이 영화는 흥행과 평가에서 모두 실패하였고, 이 영화에 대한 관객 불만의 초점은 창의성 부족에 집중되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 시리즈 영화 <레전드 오브 래빗>과 <쿵푸팬더>의 무협 캐릭터 구축을 심층적으로 비교하여 중국 무협 애니메이션 영화의 창의 전략을 탐구하고자 한다.
연구 과정에서 우선 무협 애니메이션의 핵심 개념과 오픈 이노베이션 이론을 정리하여 이론적 시각을 형성하고, 또한 기존 연구 상황을 고찰하여 학술적 창의를 제시한다. 그다음 비교 대상의 선정 원인, 비교 가능성과 비교 차원을 제시하고 분석하며, 마지막에 구체적인 캐릭터를 비교하여 <쿵푸팬더>와 <레전드 오브 래빗>이 어떻게 캐릭터 창의를 실현했는지 자세히 살펴보고 결과를 도출한다.
연구 결과, <레전드 오브 래빗>은 <쿵푸팬더>에 대한 참고를 기초로 중국 전통 무협 요소를 융합하여 창의하려 했으나 만족스러운 창작 효과를 얻지 못하였다. 반면 <쿵푸팬더>는 오픈 이노베이션에 따른 다양한 문화 융합의 창작 방식을 통해 중국 무협 문화를 새로운 모습으로 세계 관객에게 보여주었고, 또한 애니메이션 기술 측면의 업그레이드를 통해 창의를 지속적으로 지원하였다. 두 작품에 대한 깊이 있는 분석을 통해 본 연구는 다음과 같은 시사점을 얻었다. <쿵푸팬더> 시리즈 영화는 개방적 창의 태도, 기존 패러다임에 대한 자주적 혁신, 그리고 첨단 디지털 기술에 대한 통합과 응용 등에서 일정한 시사점을 주었고, 이 경험은 중국 무협 애니메이션이 창의적 유형 전환을 실현하기 위한 핵심이라는 것을 발견하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 다음과 같은 몇 가지 측면에서 무협 애니메이션 영화의 창의 실현을 제시하였다. 문화 간 시각으로 깊이 탐구하고, 무협 애니메이션 전통을 심층적으로 고찰하여 자체 혁신을 달성해야 한다. 또한 기술 창의와 문화 계승을 결합하고, 계속 발전하는 디지털 수단을 통해 새로운 창의를 지원해야 한다. 그리고 본 연구 결과는 미래 역사의 통시적 비교 측면에서 무협 영화의 창의적 발전을 위한 새로운 이론적 근거를 제시하였다.

영어초록

In recent years, animated martial arts films have gained immense popularity in the Chinese film market. Under this trend, a Chinese Legend of A Rabbit series of films, which aimed to benchmark Hollywood animated films, was highly anticipated. However, it failed in terms of box office performance and reception, with criticism focusing on its lack of innovation. Therefore, this study conducts an in-depth comparison of the character construction of martial arts figures in Legend of A Rabbit and Kung Fu Panda series films, using this as a basis to explore the innovative strategies of Chinese animated martial arts films.
In the course of the study, the core concepts of martial arts animation and open innovation theory were firstly delved into. This process aims to establish a theoretical framework and elucidate academic focal points by reviewing the existing literature. Then, the reasons for selecting comparison objects, comparability, and dimensions of comparison are analyzed. Furthermore, a specific comparison of the characters was conducted, such as: how Kung Fu Panda and Legend of A Rabbit series achieve character innovation, followed by an analysis of the comparison results.
The study finds that, while Legend of A Rabbit attempts to blend traditional Chinese martial arts elements on the basis of imitating Kung Fu Panda to achieve innovation, the creative effect falls short. In contrast, Kung Fu Panda not only presented Chinese martial arts culture in a fresh light to global audiences but also constantly surpassed itself in animation technology by open integration with other cultures, thus supporting its ongoing innovation. Through an in-depth analysis of the two works, this paper points out that the inspiration from the Kung Fu Panda series of films includes: its open-minded creation environment, independent breakthroughs of established paradigms, and the integrated application of cutting-edge digital technologies. All these experience plays a pivotal role in driving the innovative transformation of Chinese martial arts animation. Furthermore, this study suggests to make innovation in animated martial arts films from the following three facets. Specifically, in-depth exploration from a cross-cultural perspective; deep excavation of traditional martial arts animation for self-breakthroughs; the combination of technological innovation with cultural heritage; and continuous utilization of emerging digital technologies to support innovative iterations. In the future, by employing a historical longitudinal comparison, work in these three facets will provide new theoretical support for the innovative development of martial arts films.
