초록

사람이 지은 문장 가운데에서 가장 심금을 울리는 글은 죽은 사람의 영전에 고하는 애제류(哀祭類)의 글일 것이다. 애제류의 문장은 살아있는 자가 죽은 이의 영혼에게 글로써 추모하고 위로할 수 있는 문류(文類)이기에 내용이 슬프고 처절하지 않은 것이 없다.
고대의 제문은 흠향을 고하는 것으로 일을 삼았는데, 중세 이후의 제문에는 언행을 아울러 찬미했다고 한다. 그러나 신을 내려오게 함은 여러 수식을 발하는 것보다는 진실에 힘써야 하니, 정성과 슬픔이 그 본질이라고 했다.
여기에서 농암 제문의 대표작으로 제시한 작품들은 모두 그의 가장 사랑하는 자식과 스승, 그리고 형제에 관한 글인 만큼, 농암이 심혈을 기울였으리란 것을 미루어 짐작할 수 있다. 그는 여기에서 여러 가지 기법을 사용하여 사람으로 하여금 자기도 모르는 사이에 자연스럽게 슬픔에 젖어들게 하고 있다.
문장기법에서 농암은 먼저 ‘품고 드러내지 않는’ 기법을 사용하여 질박한 표현으로 사실을 전혀 드러내지 않으면서 더욱 강조하고 있다.
두 번째로는 ‘문장의 기세를 마음대로 조절하는’ 기법을 사용하여 같은 구절을 겹치거나 중간 중간에 삽입하여 억양을 반복시키고 있다.
세 번째로는 ‘말과 뜻이 하나를 이루는’ 기법을 사용하여 형식과 내용에 어떠한 차이도 존재하지 않게 함으로써 문장을 생동감 있고 확연하게 하고 있다.
네 번째로는 ‘사물에 뜻을 담는’ 기법을 사용하여 물상(物象)과 정의(情意)가 융합된 명려(明麗)하면서도 심원한 독특한 경계를 구성하였다.
산문의 일반적인 기능은 실용에 있다. 특히 제문은 죽은 사람의 영전에 고하는 글이다. 따라서 그 주안점은 당연히 추모와 슬픔에 있는 것이다. 아무리 뛰어난 문장가의 아름답고 화려한 글 솜씨가 있더라도, 내용에 슬픔이 결여돼 있거나 죽은 자와 산 자로 하여금 절실한 슬픔을 느끼게 할 수 없다면, 이는 죽은 글이다. 그렇다고 노골적이고 사실적으로 슬픔을 표현한다면 이는 글이 천박해질 뿐이다.
농암의 제문은 이러한 관점에서 볼 때, 철저히 슬픔에 그 주안점을 두었고, 다양한 문장기법을 통하여 슬픔에 대한 노골적이거나 사실적인 표현이 전혀 없으면서도 산 자와 죽은 자가 하나가 되고, 함께 흐느끼며 슬픔을 주체할 수 없게 한다.

영어초록

He uses a various branch technique from this writing and also the self between does not know letting with the person and naturally to being sad is doing to make fall into.

The function which prose is general is to a utility. Specially Jaemoon is a writing which informs in shrine of the dead people. Consequently the importance, justly cherishing the memory of a deceased person and is sad. No matter how superior door marriage to be beautiful there is a writing skill which is gorgeous but being sad in contents, this lacked, letting is earnest with the dead person and the person who is living being sad and if there is not a possibility of doing to make feel, this the gruel is the writing. That is like that, outspoken and factually being sad, if expresses, this the writing is only will become shallowly.
Jaemoon of Nongarm when from like this viewpoint seeing, thoroughly to being sad, the importance, the sentence technique which is various leads and is about outspoken, or there will not be expression which is factual entirely, will buy with the person to become own one dies, will sob together and does there not to make be a possibility which will endure.
