초록

본 논문은 7차 국사 교과서에 수록된 지도의 구성과 경향성에 대해 분석한 것이다. 2002년 간행된 7-1차 교과서에서는 5, 6차 국사 교과서의 지도들을 절충하면서 새로운 성과가 반영되어 있다. 고고학적 발굴 성과를 대폭 반영하여 선사 유적 지도가 다수 삽입되었고, ‘남북국시대’의 개념이 다시 채용되었다. 고려의 후삼국 통일을 민족 재통일로 규정하였고, 세계사 지도가 다양한 형태로 채용되었다. 경제사 부문의 지도가 보강되었고, 역사를 보는 시각이 ‘영역’ 중심에서 ‘관계’ 중심으로 이동하였다. 근․현대사부분이 별도의 교과서로 독립되면서 해당시기의 지도가 크게 줄어들면서 한말, 일제, 해방 후를 대상으로 각각 대표성을 띠는 지도만을 수록하였다.
2006년 개정된 7-2차 교과서에서는 중국의 동북공정에 대응하는 의미를 지닌 지도가 적극 수록되는 변화가 있었다. 그동안 따로 작성하였던 신라의 행정제도와 발해의 영역을 하나의 지도로 합쳐 남북국시대론을 구체화하였다. 그동안 수록되지 않았던 백두산 정계비 부근 지도를 다시 채용한 것은 조선과 청 사이의 역사적 합의를 깬 간도 협약에 대한 비판이며, 근대사에서 한민족의 해외 이주 현황을 간도 중심으로 제시한 것 역시 중국이 한민족의 활동무대로서의 간도지역에 대한 전통을 무시하고 일방적으로 진행한 동북공정에 대한 비판의 의미를 가진다.

영어초록

Examined in this article is how the history maps inserted in the 7th version of the nationally authorized "National History" textbooks were composed and positioned. The textbooks published in 2002 showed modifications from previous publications, and they also featured new portions which reflected several contemporary historical studies that were newly available at the time. Several maps indicating the locations of prehistoric vestiges were added, and the 　Era of South and North Dynasties　 concept was reestablished in the narrative of the textbooks. Goryeo dynasty's unification of the Later Three dynasties was established as a 'Reunification' of the Korean people, and several types of world history maps were inserted as well. Maps containing information of the economic history field were newly added, and the overall attitude actually changed, from putting an emphasis upon a perspective that would let readers determine 'borders and territories,' to prioritizing a point of view that would allow readers to examine 　(international) relationships.　 In the meantime, the number of maps containing information of the modern and contemporary history of Korea significantly reduced, while signature maps respectively representing the ending days of the Joseon dynasty, the Japanese occupation period, and the post-liberation period were all inserted nonetheless.
In the 2006's revision, particular maps were specificly selected in order to counter China's Northeast History project. In the past, a map of Shilla dynasty's local governance system and a map of Balhae's territory were all separately inserted, yet in the textbooks revised in 2006 they were merged into a single map. Also, the border-settling monument of the Baekdu-san mountain was inserted in the textbooks for the first time. And a map indicating the Korean people's history of foreign immigration during the modern days, designed with a specific focus upon the Gan'do area, was inserted as well.
