『찬양가』에 수록된 한국인 찬송가들에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Korean hymns in Chanyangga(1894))

초록

In the 130-year-history of Korean Protestant church, many hymnals have been published. Among them, “Chanyangga”(1894) of 117 songs was the first hymnal with notes. The editor and publisher of the book was H. C.Underwood, an American missionary. It is noticeable that some works(words) of the hymnal were written by Koreans. The Korean participation was increased, when the hymnal was revised and enlarged to 150 songs in 1985.In this article, I explore those works of the Korean authors. I investigate how many works they wrote and who they were. Then, I analyse the form and the contents of the works. I show on which verse structures they are based and which metric characteristics they have. Concerning the contents, I focus on the subjects of the pieces and on the way in which the verses progress. In addition, I find the difference between the first and second editions. Finally, I study the reception process of the works. The main question is: “Why did the Korean works of Chanyangga disappear in Korean church so early?” I inquire whether it was because of the internal or external factors of the works.
