비경제활동 발달장애인의 문화․ 여가활동 경험, 자기효능감, 취업의사와의 관계－사회인지 진로이론의 적용 (Relationship between cultural and leisure activities on self-efficacy and intention to seek employment of non-working Korean adults with developmental disabilities)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 Lent, Brown과 Hackett(1994)의 사회인지진로이론(Social cognitive career theory: SCCT)에 근거하여 비경제활동중인 한국의 성인발달장애인(지적장애, 자폐성장애)의 문화․여가활동 경험이 자기효능감을 매개로 취업의사에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 데 있다. 분석자료는 한국장애인고용패널조사(Korean Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled) 2차 웨이브 1차년도 조사(2016년)를 사용하였으며, 현재 비경제활동중인 만 19세 이상 발달장애인 223명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 주요연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 비경제활동중인 성인발달장애인이 경험하는 문화․여가활동 경험의 양은 경제활동중인 성인발달장애인에 비해 상대적으로 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 비경제활동중인 성인발달장애인의 문화․여가활동경험은 취업의사에 정적 관계로 나타났다(b=.420, p<.001). 셋째, 문화․여가활동경험은 자기효능감에 정적 관계로 나타났다(b=.075, p<.05) 넷째, 자기효능감은 취업의사에 정적 관계로 나타났으며(b=.755, p<.05), 부트스트래핑을 통한 매개효과 검증결과 성인발달장애인의 문화․여가활동경험은 자기효능감을 매개로 취업의사에 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 비경제활동중인 성인발달장애인의 진로개발과 취업을 위해서는 다양한 문화․여가활동 경험의 확대가 필요함이 검증되었으며, 또한 문화․여가활동경험을 통한 자기효능감의 향상이 성인발달장애인의 취업의사에 긍정적 영향을 미칠 수 있음이 검증되었다. 마지막으로, 성인발달장애인의 취업과 진로개발을 위해서는 평생 교육의 차원에서 지원해야 하며, 이를 위한 발달장애인 평생교육센터의 설립 확대의 필요성을 제언하였다.

영어초록

The present study employed the social cognitive career theory (SCCT) (proposed by Lent, Brown and Hackett, 1994) as a base for using self-efficacy as a mediator in order to verify the relationship between cultural and leisure activity experiences and the intention to seek employment of non-working Korean adults with developmental disabilities (intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder). Data from the second round of the first year of the Korean Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (2016) was used for analysis. It was found that there were 223 non-working adults with developmental disabilities (who were over 19years). Results revealed that the proportion of cultural and leisure activities experienced by non-working adults with developmental disabilities was much less as compared to what was experienced by working adults with developmental disabilities. Furthermore, the cultural and leisure activities that non-working adults with developmental disabilities experienced had a positive relationship with their intention to seek employment (b=.420, p<.001). A positive relationship was also seen between cultural and leisure activity experiences and self-efficacy (b=.075, p<.05). Self-efficacy, in turn, had a positive relationship with intention to seek employment (b=.755, p<.05). Testing the mediating effects with the bootstrap method showed that cultural and leisure activity experiences of adults with developmental disabilities influenced their intention to seek employment through the use of self-efficacy as a mediator. The findings of this study not only confirm the need for increasing the range and variety of cultural and leisure activities for non-working adults with developmental disabilities in order to facilitate better career development and employment opportunities but also confirm that improved self-efficacy through these experiences can positively influence these adults’ intention to seek employment. It is thereby proposed that life-long education should be provided to adults with developmental disabilities for employment and career development. The need to expand the establishment of life-long education centers for people with developmental disabilities has therefore been highlighted.
