사우디아라비아 치과 의료진의 특수목적 한국어교육을 위한 국내 치과 의료 환경 연구 - 국내 치과 의료진의 인식 조사를 중심으로 - (A Study on Domestic Medical Environment for Korean Education for Specific Purposes of Saudi Arabia Dental Staff: focused on the recognition of domestic dental medical staff)

초록

이 연구는 사우디 치과의료진의 성공적인 한국연수를 위하여 의료목적 직업한국어 그리고 내용중심에 기초한 한국어 교육과정을 설계하기 위한 기초연구다. 이 연구에서 의료목적의 직업한국어 교육과정을 설계하기 위해 도출한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 레지던트를 위한 교과과정은 해당 병원의 자체연수자료집과 연수교육과정을 통해 이루어지기는 하나 병원연수 전에 치과 주요증상 30가지를 한국어내용으로 설계하면 더 빠르게 병원연수에 적응할 수 있을 것이다.
둘째, 인간관계와 에티켓은 일반적인 교양인의 기준에서 내용을 설계할 수 있다. 셋째, 의료진의 커뮤니케이션 스킬은 교육 내용으로서 매우 중요하게 설계되어야 할 부분이다. 특히 갈등을 일으키지 않는 방법과 갈등이 있을 때 이를 한국어로 해결할 수 있도록 다양한 실제적인 장면이 포함되어야 한다. 또한 지도교수, 동료 레지던트, 간호사, 치과기공사, 치과위생사, 환자 등 자주 만나는 집단과의 소통내용을 설계할 필요가 있다.
넷째, 학술토론과 발표스킬은 일반적인 발표의 목적과 태도에 부합하였다. 다만 한국어로 진행하는 부분에서의 강조할 점에 대한 연습과정을 설계할 필요가 있다.
마지막으로 한국 병원에서 특히 강조되는 문화를 배울 필요가 있었다. 상명하복, 상하위계 등의 문화와 긴 근무시간, 밤샘 문화, 회식과 관련한 술 문화 등에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 특히 술 문화는 사우디에서 공식적으로 금지된 문화이므로 이러한 문화는 상호 간의 교육내용을 마련해 서로의 문화를 이해할 수 있는 시간을 설계해야 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this research is for designing a basic curriculum of Korean language for medical purposes for the Saudi medical team in Korea, focused on the successful acquisition of Korean language and hospital training. Korean language experts are not aware of the infrastructure in hospitals and hospital staffing. Therefore, it is difficult to design the contents of education for specific purposes only by analyzing the medical textbooks, especially Korean language for medical purposes. Accordingly, in cooperation with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) and 5 Universities participating in the Saudi medical team training, a basic awareness survey from 44 residents was conducted in K University and K Dental Hospital, which are currently operating a curriculum of Korean language.
The implications of this research for Curriculum Design of Korean for medical purposes are as follows.
First, the curriculum for residents is composed through in-house training materials and the training curriculum of the hospital. However, if the 30 major dental symptoms are designed in Korean prior to the training, it will enable quicker and smoother adaptation in the hospital training. This was confirmed in the residents' responses within the survey which included contents of all 30 major symptoms.
Second, the contents regarding human relationships and etiquette can be designed based on general standards.
Third, communication skills of medical staff are the most significant components that need to be designed in the contents. When there is conflict, various practical scenarios should be included so that they can be resolved in Korean without causing conflict. It is also necessary to design sample contents of communication between groups such as advisors, colleague, nurses, dental technicians, dental hygienists, and patients.
Fourth, academic discussions and presentation skills were consistent with the purpose and attitude for general presentations. However, when conducting courses in Korean, it is necessary to design an extra sample curriculum for emphasis on certain points.
Finally, there is a strong need to learn cultural aspects that is particularly emphasized in Korean hospitals. It is necessary to understand the cultures of vertical structures of decision making, hierarchy, long working hours, overnight working culture, and gatherings which expose residents to the Korean drinking culture. Especially, since the culture of alcohol is officially banned in Saudi Arabia, these cultures should be designed to help understand the culture of each other by providing mutual education contents.
