초록

이 논문은 문자 중심의 여성문학(사) 이해의 한계를 논증하는 방식으로 ‘비-문자’ 감성 요소에 대한 문화사적 재현의 중요성과 행위자의 경험, 실천, 구술 차원을 고려한 디지털 차원에서의 여성문학/문화 공간을 설계하기 위한 ‘창의-생산’적 가능성을 제안했다. 이는 조선시대 여성의 문화지리를 디지털 차원에서 재구성하는 작업이 문자화된 자료를 고정적으로 재생산하는 디지털-재현의 방식을 넘어서야 한다는 관점에서 출발한다. 이때 디지털 수용자가 대상 자료를 이해하는 방식과 관점 자체를 인문적 자원으로 포용하는 방식으로 설계되어야 한다는 의미를 강조했다. 이 논문은 그 가능성에 대해 문자화된 여성문화/문학사의 기록 이면에 잠재되거나 온축된, 여성의 가치와 실천성, 문자로는 명시할 수 없었지만 실제로 존재했던 문자생활과 문학 행위, 인문적으로 가치 있는 윤리적이고 감성적인 실천을 독해하는 방식으로부터 찾아보고자 했다.
문자화된 조선시대 여성의 생애사는 사대부, 남성, 지식인, 한자, 제도적 ‘문’을 경유한 자료이므로, 여성의 주체적 발화나 재현의 수사, 성찰성의 내용은 지워지거나 감추어졌기 때문에, 이것을 복원하는 작업은 ‘투명하게 존재하는’ 그림자 읽기의 작업과 흡사하다.
조선시대에 공식적으로 문자생활을 권유받지 못한 여성 문화를 이해하고, 그 가치와 실재를 디지털로 복원하기 위해서는 ‘박람강기’라는 남성적 방식과는 달리, ‘박문강기’라는 구술과 청취의 화행성에 대한 이해가 수반되어야 하며, 신분제의 하위 기단을 차지하던 여종과 유모도 포함될 수 있음을 고려해야 한다. 또한 여성을 바라보는 남성 중심적 시선을 확대재생산하는 방식을 넘어서, 수용자가 자료를 통해 역사와 문화를 성찰적으로 사유하고 비평적으로 이해할 수 있는 ‘창의-생산적’ 방식으로 설계할 필요가 있다.
이를 통해 이 논문은 현대의 수용자가 조선시대 여성 문화의 존재 방식의 특성을 이해함으로써, 역사적으로 존재하는 ‘문자화’된 기록이 갖는 한계와 작동 원칙에 대한 성찰적이고 비평적이며 상상적인 이해를 확장할 수 있는 디지털 설계에 대한 인문공학적 구현의 필요성과 가능성을 제안했다.

영어초록

This paper investigated the possibility of cultural space design as a mode of ‘creative-production’ at a digital dimension through arguing the significance of both the representations of cultural history through non-scripted affective elements and the female literature considering experience, actions, practice, and orality. This work starts from the viewpoint that reconstructing the cultural geography of women in the Joseon period in digital level should go beyond digitalization as a fixed method of reproducing the textual data. It also presents the view that audiences in a digitalized space can have opportunities to understand the original literary data in a new form by experiencing other audiences’ viewpoints on this content as a human resource. This paper examined the possibility of women’s practicality, value, literary life and ethical and affective practice as a way of analyzing women’s cultural/literary history, which are lettered in the texts oral transmission the Joseon period.
The life history of the women the Joseon era, which are written in scripts are mediated through male, intellectual, scripts (hanmun, a Chinese character), through the a concept of institutional literature. Since the contents of investigations and reflections on subjective utterances and representations of women are either erased or concealed, the task of restoring such contents is similar to the work of ‘transparently existing’ shadow reading.
In order to understand the female culture that is not permitted to literary life formally in the Joseon era and to restore their value and reality to the digital space, we should consider the women’s way of study like ‘seeing a lot and memorizing well’, unlike the masculine way of ‘reading a lot and memorizing well’. This could include maidens and nannies who occupied the lower class of the status system. In addition, it should be designed in a ‘creative-productive’ way that reflects and critically understands history and culture through the data, beyond the way of expanding and reproducing the male-centered gaze that looks at women.
This paper explores the limitations of modern Korean audience in the way of existence of women’s culture in the Joseon era, expanding on their introspective, critical and imaginative understanding of the limitations and operating principles of historically existing reality, and suggested the necessity and possibility of human engineering implementation of digital design that can be done.
