익산지역 독립운동사적지 현황과 과제 (A Study on the Current Status of the Historic Places of the Independence Movement in Iksan Region and Their Application)

초록

우리나라 독립운동은 국권(國權)이 흔들리기 시작했던 구한말에서 일제통치의 마지막 날까지 끊임없이 지속되었다. 독립에의 처절한 열망과 투쟁은 익산지역도 예외는 아니었다. 현재 익산지역의 독립유공자는 84명으로 다양한 성격의 독립운동이 전개되었음을 알 수 있다.
본 연구는 지역사 인식 재고와 독립운동사적지 활용을 위해 익산지역의독립운동 사적지(史跡地) 현황과 그 활용을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 조사대상사적지 17개소 중 현재 멸실 5, 변형 6, 원형복원 1, 원형보존 3, 훼손 2 개소로 정리된다.
독립운동사 연구를 진작시키고 이를 문화산업으로 활용하기 위한 모색방안은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 익산지역의 독립운동에 대한 종합적 학술조사가 시행되어야 할 것이다. 곧 자료수집과 자료집 발간이 우선되어야 한다.
둘째, 독립운동사의 인물과 경관을 주제로 한 스토리텔링을 영상매체들과 결합하여 다양한 문화콘텐츠로 재생산해 가야 할 것이다. 더구나 익산지역의 독립운동사는 의병의 이규홍, 3·1운동의 문용기, 불법연구회의 민중의식 고취, 학생운동과 사회·운동 관련 등 스토리텔링 자원이 매우 풍부하다.
셋째, 문화관광 및 역사교육의 장으로 활용하는 방안이다. 활용가능하거나 고증된 사적지는 탐방코스화 하고, 기존의 유적지와 연계하여 관광객을유치하여 관광 자원화하면 경제적 가치도 기대해 볼 수 있다.
넷째, 근·현대사중심의 라키비움(Larchiveum) 설립이 필요하다. 익산은 천년의 고도이자 일제 식민지 시기에 형성된 근대도시로 고대와 근·현대의 다양한 문화유산을 가지고 있다. 이제 근·현대사의 익산을 알리기위해 라키비움을 설립을 통해 전시, 문화활동, 연구, 기록물보존의 공간으로 활용할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 곧, 라키비움 설립은 복합문화공간으로써 익산지역뿐만 아니라 전북의 모든 지역까지 아우르는 독립운동사의 메카로자리매김할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

The Korean Independence Movement had endlessly continued from the end of the pre-modern Korean history to the last day of the Japanese colonial times. Iksan region was not an exception of the extremely earnest longings and struggles. Currently, there are 84 persons of merits for the Independence Movement, indicating that there were various aspects of the Independence Movement in the region.
This study aim to review the current status of the historic places of the Independence Movement in Iksan region and their application in order to raise the recognition on the local history and to apply the historic sites of the Independence Movement. As a result, among 17 historic sites for the research, there are five lost places, six transformed places, one original recovered places, three original conserved places, and two damaged places.
The suggestions for promoting to study about the history of the Independence Movement and for applying them as cultural industrial sources are as follows: First, the comprehensive academic researches on the Independent Movement in Iksan region should be conducted. That is, collecting the sources and publishing their collection shall be prioritized.
Second, it is necessary to combine storytelling about people and scenes of the history of the Independence Movement with media, and to reproduce them as various cultural contents. In addition, there are abundant sources of storytelling including Lee, Kyu-hong and the volunteer[Righteous] corps, Moon, Yong-ki of the March 1st Independence Movement, raising public sense by the Society for the Study of the Buddhadharma and other students and social movements in the history of Independence Movement in Iksan region.
Third, it is to apply them as sites for cultural tourism and history education. Applicable or verified historic sites may be set a tour course, and if they are linked with the existing historic sites and can attract tourists as tourism sources, it is expected that there will be economic values.
Fourth, it is necessary to establish Larchiveum focusing on the modern and contemporary history. Iksan is not only an old city with a thousand years' history but also a modern city formed in the Japanese colonial era, having various cultural heritages from the ancient, modern, and contemporary times. Now, in order to show the modern and contemporary Iksan, it necessitates to use Larchiveum as the space for exhibitions, cultural activities, researches, and archiving through its establishment. That is, the establishment of Larchiveum will be the settlement of the center of history of the Independent Movement as a cultural complex in all the areas in Jeonbuk as well as Iksan region.
