초록

이케우치 히로시(池內宏)는 20세기 전반 일본의 대표적인 동양사학자로서, 엄격한 실증주의와 사료비판을 추구했다. 池內宏은 신라 말까지의 朝鮮上世史를 4세기 초까지의 ‘漢민족통치의 시기’, 4세기 초부터 7세기 중엽까지의 ‘濊貊․韓族 대항의 시기’, 7세기 중엽 이후 ‘韓族통치시대’ 등 3시기로 구분했다. 이러한 구분은 韓族의 존재를 무시한 것이고, 또 왕건의 고려와 이성계의 조선이 만주민족 국가와 漢族 국가를 계승하겠다는 국가였다는 해석이 가능하다는 문제점이 있다. 또 ‘조선사’의 영역인 ‘조선반도’ 북부에 거주하는 예맥족을 외부 세력인 ‘만주민족’으로 인식함으로써, ‘조선반도’ 북부의 역사가 외부 세력에 의해 거주․지배되었다는 타율적인 역사 인식이다. 箕氏朝鮮과 衛氏朝鮮을 고조선으로 이해하면서 중국 이주민이 세운 국가로 인식했는데, ‘조선’이라는 국호가 중국적인 국호가 아니고, 위씨조선 이전에도 토착민들이 먼저 ‘조선’이라는 국가를 세웠을 가능성에 대해서는 고려하지 않았다. 또 池內宏은 한사군의 설치부터 멸망까지 시간적인 흐름에 따라 일관성 있게 고찰했다. 한사군의 치폐와 변동을 고구려의 발전 및 중국 대륙에서의 정치적 세력 변화와 연계시켜 이해했으며, 반면 한반도 내에 거주하는 韓族의 역량과 역할에 대해서는 무시했다. 그는 근대적인 역사방법으로 엄격한 사료비판과 실증을 추구했지만, 분석 대상이 되었던 ‘조선상세사’의 주체는 ‘조선반도’ 외부 세력이었고, ‘조선반도’ 내부 거주민은 그들에게 지배를 받는 미개한 존재였을 뿐이었다.

영어초록

IKEUCH HIROSHI is a leading oriental historian in Japan in the first half of the 20th century who has pursued rigorous positivism and criticism of historical records. IKEUCH considered Gojoseon (that is, Gija Joseon and Wiman Joseon) a country established by Chinese emigrants, and Goruryeo a country of Manchu national-state. Based on this recognition, he divided the “history of the Joseon peninsula” (that is, the Joseon history) into three (3) periods until the 10th century: (1) the “period of ruling of Han Chinese Race” ruled by Gojoseon and Han4gun, (2) the “period during which the Yemaek race of the Manchurian race and the Korean race in the south-cental part of the Korean peninsula stood together against each other” from the 4th century to the mid-7th century, and (3) the “period of ruling of the Korean race from the mid-7th century to the fall of Shilla. Yemaek refers to Goguryeo, and the Korean race refers to Baekje and Silla. This distinction emphasizes the influence of external forces such as China and Manchuria from the heteronomous perspectives. There is a problem in that Wang Geun's Goryeo should be deemed to have succeeded to Manchurian national-state, and Lee Seong Gye’s Joseon should be deemed to have succeeded to the state of Chinese emigrants. In studying the history of the norther part of the Korean peninsula and the Manchurian region in the ancient history, IKEUCH focused its subject on the direct control of the Chinese forces of Han4gun and Daebangun, and the counteracting resistance of Goguryeo’s Manchurian race. Mahan's ability to drive out the Jinbeon gun in 26 years was intentionally disregarded. Although IKEUCH studies the Han4gun based on rigorous positivism and criticism of historical records, his central theme was a war history mainly based on historical research of geography, and he overemphasized the influence of Han Kun Hyun. He recognized that the northern part of the ‘Joseon Peninsula’ was the residence of the external forces of the Han Chinese and Yemaek, and the ‘Korean race in the southern party of the Joseon peninsula that may be considered the ancestor of the present Joseon race’ was staying in an uncivilized state and exist3ed under the influence of the Chinese culture. He studied Korea’s ancient history from the heteronomous perspectives.
