文人畵의 프리즘을 통한 華藝의 예술정신 (The Artistic Spirit of Floral Art Viewed through the Prism of Literati Paintings)

초록

본 연구는 화예(꽃예술) 미학에 관한 담론으로 화예창작 과정에 있어창작주체의 예술정신은 무엇인가에 관한 논의로서 한국화예의 정체성을찾기 위한 가장 근본적이면서 필수적인 것을 창작주체의 ‘예술정신’이라보고 그 예술정신을 文人畵의 프리즘을 통하여 찾고자 한다. 文人畵의기억은 과거의 것을 찾아 재현한다는 복고적 의미가 아니라 새로운 것을위한 규범의 가치와 정신으로 해석 할 수 있다. 무엇인가를 기억 한다는것은 세계를 보는 관점이고 사물관, 가치관은 시대와 사회적 상황 하에서 한 집단의 정신적 내면세계이므로 그 집단의 정신성의 뿌리를 살펴볼수 있는 것이다.
전체적인 논의의 내용은 크게 둘로 나누었는데 첫째는 ‘문인화의 일반적 고찰’ 에 관한 논의로서 문인화의 시대적 배경 및 개념, 문인화의미학적 특징인 사의(寫意)와 함축(含蓄)을 고찰하였다. 이 논의를 통해서형식과 규제를 중히 여기는 형사적인 것을 초월하여 작가의 내면에 깊은심의와 의취를 중시하는 문인화의 철학적 의미인 ‘寫意’는 화예(꽃예술)에서 창작주체의 예술정신과 같은 맥락임을 밝혔다. 화예에서 ‘寫意’는작가의 내재된 정신세계의 표현인 ‘나를 드러냄’ 즉 주체성을 표현한 것이다. 이는 곧 작가의 예술적인 상상력 및 그 자유와 밀접한 연관성을갖는 예술가의 주체성의 자유정신이다. 둘째는 ‘한국화예의 미학적 특징’에 관한 논의로서 선행연구의 화예개념을 근거로 확장된 화예개념을 돌출해내어 화예(꽃예술)의 창작 활동을 통한 화예작품은 꽃과 식물을 매개로하여 창작자의 심성을 담아내는 心象예술이며, 또한 객관적 사실을그대로 모방하거나 재현하는 형사적 측면보다는 창작자의 내면적 정신세계를 담아내는 神似의 意象예술임을 밝혔다. 그러므로 意를 담아내는 ‘사의적 화예’에 대한 이해는 화예의 창작주체에게 있어 가장 먼저 선행되어야 할 사유이며, 구체적인 화예창작에 임했을 때 意와 관련지어 意在揷花前의 절지사유가 요구된다고 밝혔다. 또 창작자의 사상이나 감정ㆍ생각등을 눈에 띄게 드러내지 않고 창작주체의 내면적 정신세계와 의취를 담아내어 표현하는 미의식인 함축을 요구하였다. 寫意의 예술정신이근저가 된 미학적 특징은 화예 창작과정에서 부재 중인 ‘예술정신’을 찾아가는 한 방법이 될 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 이것이 더 세분화되면 화예에 나타난 ‘우리 것’의 실체에 근접할 수 있을 것이며, 또한 이 실체를통해 우리는 ‘自生性’이라는 우리의 힘을 키울 수 있을 것이라고 본다.
우리는 화예에서 ‘한국적인 것’, ‘우리의 것’에 대해서 강조하지만 그것의실체가 무엇이며, 그 실체를 만들어내는 요소들이 무엇인지를 탐구하려 하지 않는 경향이 있다. 이러한 측면에서 예술창작 주체로서의 寫意가 지니는 가치와 의미에 대한 논의는 화예학문의 미학적 담론의 장을 더욱 확대시키는 계기가 될 것이며 아울러 유의미한 작업이 될 것이라고 생각한다.

영어초록

This study, as a discourse on the aesthetics of floral art, discusses what the creators’artistic spirit is in floral art creation. In this study,we look for the identity of Korean floral art through the prism of literati paintings, assuming that creators’artistic spirit is most fundamental and essential for finding the identity of Korean floral art.
The memory of literati paintings can be understood as the value and spirit of norms for new things rather than as the restoration of past things. Recalling something is a viewpoint to see the world, and a group’s view of things and value system is the group’s spiritual inner world under specific historical and social situation, so it can exhibit the root of the group’s mentality. The contents of our discussion are divided largely into two parts. The first part is discussion on ‘the generals of literati paintings,’describing the development and concept of literati paintings and their aesthetic characteristics, uniformity and Xie Yi Xing (expression of meaning).Through this discussion, we clarified that ‘Xie Yi,’ which is a characteristic of literati paintings that transcend Xing Si (similarity in shape) emphasizing forms and rules and attach value to the artist’s deep inner spirit and intention, shares the same context with floral art creators’ artistic spirit. In floral art,‘Xie Yi’ is the expression of subjectivity, namely, the artist’s ‘revelation of self’that expresses the artist’s inner spiritual world. This is the free spirit of the artist’s subjectivity closely connected to the artist’s imagination and freedom. The second part is discussion on‘the artistic spirit of floral art.’In the discussion, we derived the concept of floral art expanded from the concepts of floral art suggested in previous studies and proved that floral art works resulting from floral art creation activities are art of mental image carrying the creator’s mentality through the medium of flowers and plants as well as spiritual art of imago conveying the creator’s inner mental world rather than imitating or reproducing objective facts exactly as they are.
Therefore, understanding of ‘meaning-expressive floral art’containing meanings is the first prerequisite for floral art creators, and the thinking of ‘meaning-oriented floral arrangement(意在揷花前)’ in artistic spirit of Xie Yi can be a method of finding ‘artistic connection to meanings is required in specific floral art creations. The spirit’absent in the process of floral art creation. Furthermore, if it is materialized further it may approach closer the realities of‘our things’observed in floral art and the realities may strengthen our power of‘spontaneity.’We tend to emphasize‘Korean-style things’and‘our things’in floral art but to be lazy in exploring what the realities are and what factors form the realities. In this sense, discussion on the value and meaning of Xie Yi as the subject of art creation may be a meaningful effort that provides an opportunity to expand the ground for aesthetic discourses on floral art.
