초록

In this research, The effects of extracts from Schizandra chinensis seed on skin regeneration and anti-aging of the skin exsposed to ultraviolet B(UVB) were analyzed, and then examined whether the Schizandra chinensis seed extract can be developed as an agent to improve the skin. Extractions were carried out by means of water and ethanol as a solvents. External morphology epidermis tissue,master cell, and activities of Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and Glutathione-s-transferase(GST) were examined in mice after treatments with extractions. The results obtained were as follows. In the mouse skin damaged by UVB, the normal group showed a certain Stratum Corneum, and the shape of sebaceous glands of an even form, But the control group showed a severe keratin due to loss of moisture,along with severly damaged sebaceous glands and dyskeratosis of epidermis. The extracts accelerated collagen generation, which resulted in thickening both epidermis and dermis. In terms of the dry seed water extract and fermented seed water extract, in particular, collagen volume and concentration were higher than the other extracts, the structure of the epidermis and dermis relatively looked stable, and the size of sebaceous gland was reduced. As the result of analyzing the effect of Schizandra chinensis seed extract upon the mast cell of the mouse tissue, the size and numbers of the mast cells of the dry seed water extract, fermented seed water and ethanol extract were remarkably reduced in comparison to the control group. The activities of SOD and GST in the mouse tissue, the control group and extract-applied group were lower than the normal group, and the extract-applied group was a little higher than the control group. SOD was highest in groups treated with the fermented seed water extract, and GST were increased significantly (p<0.05) in groups treated with the dry seed water extract. It was found that Schizandra chinensis seed extract was effective for anti-oxidant, whitening, anti-fungal,and skin regeneration. The Schizandra chinensis seed which is a by-product generated by the usage of Schizandra chinensis fruit is deemed to be usefully applied as a substance to improve the skin, such as anti-oxidant functional cosmetics for removing pimples, for whitening and for preventing wrinkles. The more additive researcher on effects of the extracts with various other factors such as oral dose, treatment period and concentration required.
