석정 중기시의 상징과 현실 지향적 윤리 (The symbols and Reality-Oriented Ethics in Seokjeong's middle-period poems)

초록

석정의 초기시가 세계와 대결을 회피하며 관념적으로 내면화된 경향을 띤다는 것은, 시적 자아가 역사적 현실을 거부했거나 지향적 모티프를 상실했기 때문일 것이다. 그러나 그 의식이 해방과 맞물려 어떠한 상징에 골몰하고 있는가를 살펴보면, 석정의 시에 노정된 또 하나의 의식에 초점을 맞출 수밖에 없다. 이런 견지에서 석정의 중기시를 이해하고 평가하기 위해서는 시에 구현되어 있는 의식계와 현실계의 상관관계를 밝히는 일이 선결 과제가 된다. 따라서 본고는 석정 시의 상상력의 근간으로 작용하는 ‘태양’과 ‘고향’의 상징성을 중심으로 하여 석정 시에 나타난 현실 지향적 윤리 의식에 대해 살펴보고자 주력했다.
무엇보다도 ‘태양’의 상징성은 8·15 해방 이후 6·25 동란에 이르는 부정의 역사를 밀어내고 밝은 세계를 여는 시적 자아가 존재의 당위성을 획득하는 내적인 힘으로 현시된다. 특히 이 빛의 역동성은 시적 자아가 관념적 내면의 공간에서 벗어나는 인식의 토대로 작용하여 역사의식에 이르는 자각의 과정을 보여준다. 즉 시적 자아의 부정적 의식계가 빛의 힘을 매개로 전인적 생명체로 다시 태어나는 계기를 마련해 준다. 빛으로 수용된 이 평화로운 공간은 조화로운 세계의 질서를 꿈꾸는 시적 자아가 궁극적으로 도달하고자 하는 생명의 원형이기 때문이다.
여기에서 나아가 6·25 동란 전후의 궁핍하고 황폐한 ‘고향’의 체험은 시적 자아에게 참혹한 이웃들의 실상을 직시하게 하는 계기로 작동한다. 따라서 자연을 응시하던 초기 관조의 시선에서 벗어나 현장 공간을 강조하며 현실의 면면을 적나라하게 포착하는 것이다. 철저히 현실계의 토대로 작용하는 이 공간에서 시적 자아는 현실의 비극을 우회시키고 지연시키면서 인간 조건을 둘러싼 삶의 현장을 연민의 시선으로 직시한다. 즉 의식계가 현실계와 만나는 이 지점에서 시적 자아는 자신과 이웃들을 재발견하고, 나아가 공동체 사회를 희구하는 의식을 드러내기에 이른다.
이와 같이 석정의 중기시에 구체적인 현실과 인간이 등장하는 것은 시적 자아가 현실계에 대응하려는 의식의 변모 과정상 필연적일 수밖에 없다. 이는 실존의 공간에서 방황하던 석정의 의식계가 대사회적 관점으로 열려 가는 의식의 궤적인 동시에 한 시인으로서의 새로운 자각에 이른 결과이다. 석정의 내면의식이 행동과 실천을 지향하면서 얻게 되는 것은 무한한 가능성의 공간이다. 이 공간 속에서 시적 자아는 현실을 직시하여 수용하는 것은 물론 인간애와 인인애(隣人愛)로써 역사와 현실을 끌어안으려는 시적 자아의 결연한 의지의 모습이기도 하다.

영어초록

That Seokjeong's early poems tend to have internalized trend with notion avoiding the confrontation with the world is due to his poems either ethically being rejected as a historical reality, or due to loss of oriented motif. However, when seen what kind of symbolic images his consciousness concentrated on interlocked with the liberation it is inevitable to focus on another self exposed in Seokjeong's poems. In order to understand Seokjeong's middle poems and evaluate them it is the first task to reveal the correlations between self-consciousness and world of reality expressed in his poems. Therefore, this paper tries to reveal Seokjeong's recognition of reality and the existence of ethical behavior based on the foundation of the imagination by focusing on the symbolic system of the 'sun' and the 'homeland' in his poems.
Above all, the 'sun', is manifested as the inner strength obtaining poetic self-justification which can open the bright new world pushing the negative historic period between 8.15 and 6.25. In particular, the dynamics of light in the space of poetic self beyond recognition inside the ideological basis of the action leading to a sense of history shows the process of awakening. Negative inner space of the poetic self through the medium of light gives the opportunity to be born again as a holistic life. This is because a desire for wholeness of life and the poetic self is hiding the historical perspective.
In addition to this, the experience of the poor and ravaged 'home' to the poetic self before and after the 6.25 War(the Korean War) is the cause to bring the basic and realistic conditions of humans to life. Contemplate the nature of the early days of staring eyes and the scene space, highlighting the stark reality that capture every aspect of the will. Acting completely perception of reality based on the poetic self in this space, the real tragedy of the human condition, while it delays and detours around the scene of life through the eyes of compassion to face. Meet the real space and inner space that is at this point, the poetic self rediscovers themselves and their neighbors, and even a conscious desire of a community amounting to reveal.
Thus, in Seokjeong's middle-period of poems the fact that concrete reality and human reality emerge in response to the poetic self to society and the transformation of consciousness in the process is inevitable. This wandering helpless in the space of existence is the world of consciousness open toward against social viewpoint and at the same time is the result reaching a new awareness of the poet. What is obtained by Seokjeong's inner consciousness and practice-oriented behavior is the space of infinite possibilities. In this space, the poetic self accepts the reality as well as love of the humanity and the neighbors as a complete history and reality to embrace the ethical existence of self-image that is determined.
