초록

분구묘는 4-5세기 무렵에 중서부 지역에 존재하던 묘제이다. 이 묘제는 목재로 매장시설을 결구하여 흙에 묻는다는 점에서 토광묘적 속성을 드러낸다. 그러나 매장시설의 위치,조성방식, 유물의 안치방법에 나름의 차별적 속성을 갖추고 있다. 따라서 분구묘는 토광묘적범주에서 관 곽토광묘, 주구토광묘와 대비되는 묘제로서 유형구분이 가능하다.
분구묘는 중서부지역 서해안에 편중 분포하지만 水邊生活보다는 오히려 지역적 특성으로 분포환경이 정리될 수 있다. 나아가 저구릉성 산지에 입지하면서 무덤 구역이 엄격하게구분된다던가, 墳丘를 조성하면서 周溝를 남기는 외형적 특성도 있다. 더불어 埋葬施設은木棺을 地上에 안치하고 木棺內에 유물을 안치하면서 유물은 고유의 갖춤새도 있다.
분구묘는 주구토광묘의 영향으로 마한의 고유묘제가 변화되어 발생한 묘제이다. 중부지역에 고총형 분구를 조성하는 주구토광묘의 등장은 마한지역 고유묘제에 고총의 분구를조성케 함으로서 분구묘가 발생한 것이다. 3세기 말경에 등장한 분구묘는 지역적 특성을드러내면서 발전하지만 5세기 말경부터 비롯된 횡혈식 석실분으로의 백제묘제 일원화과정에 소멸된 묘제이기도 하다.

영어초록

Tomb with Bungu is a type of burial prevalent in GyungGi and ChungChung provinces in the mid-west Korean peninsular around four to five centuries. With regard to this method, a structure to place a corpse is built with timbers bound together, and covered with soil. This kind of method could be defined as another Pit tomb in a wide perspective. Still, the way of selecting burial places, structuring, and of placing relics indicates its original characteristics. Therefore, Tomb with Bungu can be categorized as a burial type distinct from Pit tomb, such as Pit tomb with Gwan-Gwuak and Pit tomb with Jugu.
Tombs with Bungu are concentrated in the coastal area of the midwest Korean peninsular. Yet such distribution would be related to regional characteristics, since there is no detailed evidence to prove that it was a result of concentrated fishery villages. Tombs with Bungu are usually placed on the lower hills of mountain areas and are strictly delineated. Somtimes, a burial area consists only of Tombs with Bungu. Additionally, some of them show significant characteristics like holes dug out of the ground and mound remaining around the tombs, and unique arrangements of relics in the wooden coffin, which, for this type of Tombs with Bungu, is laid on the ground.
Tomb with Bungu is a burial type developed, inspired by Pit tomb with Jugu.
Mahan's burial type lays a corpse in a wooden coffin or a pottery coffin and covers the coffin with soil, supposedly without high mound to signal a tomb. Tomb with Bungu is a consequence of diversion of Pit tomb with Jugu, a burial style that mounds soil on the top of the coffin. Tomb with Bungu first appeared in the late third century, and consistently developed with distinct regional characteristics. Yet stone chamber tomb started to dominate the burial culture of the Baekje society, Tomb with Bungu also disappeared around the late fifth century.
