초록

1950년대는 대결정신, 전위정신, 부정정신 등이 각광받았던 시대이다. 실존주의 지성론은 주관성과 앙가주망론이 각각 결합하면서 실존주의적 부정정신의 주체를 구성하였다. 1950년대 실존주의는 반공주의와 결부되면서, 반공의 논리는 지성주의에 대한 배격으로 나타난다. 주관성-지성 복합체로서의 실존주의는 개인주의, 무정부적 자유주의와 관련될 때 비판받았다. 1950년대 후반에 들면 실존주의 지성론이 앙가주망론과 결합된다. 주체와 세계와의 관계가 중심 화두로 떠오르지만 현실 참여적 지성주의는 엄격하게 배척된다. 인간성을 말살하는 전체주의(공산주의)화될 위험을 동반하기 때문이다.
지성주의를 배격하는 실존주의 담론은 시적 사고와 관련하여 모더니즘 사유와 차이를 내포한다. 실존주의가 모더니즘과 함께 1950년대 부정정신을 공유한다고 하더라도 근본적으로 성격이 다른 것이었다. 실존주의에서는 부정정신을 비극의식의 철저로 규정했다. 이 비극의식은 총체적 신화로서의 시를 추구하는 방향으로 이어진다. 비극적 세계인식을 통해 시적 주체는 총체적 신화세계 속에서 내적인 초월(긍정성)의 지평을 발견하고자 했다. 이는 모더니스트들이 개성적인 주체를 구성하고 주체의 태도까지 대상화하려는 지성적 태도와 대조된다. 다시 말하면 실존주의 지성론에서의 부정정신은 보편적 비극의식의 심화를 의미했다면 모더니즘에서 강조한 지성의 부정정신은 비평정신 내지 비판정신이었다. 비극의식과 비평정신은 완전히 다른 부정정신의 갈래를 보여준다. 실존주의 지성론의 비극의식은 보편적 인간 내면을 의미한 것이며 총체성과 신화성을 시의 세계로 지향함으로써 주체의 변혁의지를 발견할 수 없다는 데서 시적 사고의 보수성을 보여준다.

영어초록

In the 1950s, the confrontational attitude and the spirit of avant-garde and denial were in the limelight. Noetics of existentialism, coupled with subjectivity and the theory of Engagement respectively, constituted the subject of the spirit of denial. As existentialism in the 1950s was linked with anticommunism, the logic of anticommunism took the form of rejecting intellectualism. Existentialism, as a combination of subjectivity and intellect, was criticized when it was involved with individualism and anarchic liberalism. In the late 1950s, noetics of existentialism combined with the theory of Engagement. Though the relation between the subject and the world emerged as a main topic, intellectualism based on engagement in reality was excluded strictly. That was because it accompanied the risk of totalitarianism(communism) which destroyed humanity.
A discourse on existentialism which rejected intellectualism was different from contemplation of modernism with respect to poetic thinking. Although existentialism and modernism shared the spirit of denial in the 1950s, the two were fundamentally different in nature. Existentialism defined the spirit of denial as the thoroughness of tragic consciousness. This tragic consciousness was led to the way of pursuing poetry as a overall myth. Through the tragic view of the world the poetic subject attempted to find a prospect of inner positiveness in the general mythical world. This contrasted with the intellectual attitude of modernists who intended to constitute the individual subject and even tried to objectify the attitude of the subject. In other words, if the spirit of denial in the noetics of existentialism meant intensified universal tragic consciousness, the intellectual spirit of denial based on modernism was a critical spirit. Tragic consciousness showed a totally different type of the spirit of denial from the critical spirit. The tragic consciousness of noetics of existentialism meant universal inner side of human beings and showed conservatism of poetic thinking in that the will to transform the subject could not be found by trying to involve the overall mythical characteristics in the world of poetry.
