초록

예수께서 친히 제자들에게 가르치신(마태 6:9-13; 누가 11:2-4) ‘주의 기도’ (the Lord's Prayer)의 첫 부분은 하나님과 관련된 세 가지의 ‘당신’이라는 간구 즉 아버지, 당신의 이름을 거룩하게 하심, 당신의 나라, 당신의 거룩한 뜻 등을 말한다. 후반부의 인간과 관련된 네 가지의 간구는 일용할 양식, 용서, 늘 따라다니는 유혹, 언제나 우리를 위협하는 악 등이다. 한 마디로 주기도는 ‘하늘의 고난이 땅의 고난과 연결’되는, 다시 말하면 하나님과 인간, 하늘과 땅, 종교적인 것과 정치적인 것, 이 모든 것들이 처음부터 끝까지 통일성을 유지하면서 실천적으로 올바른 관계를 맺게 되는 ‘총체적 해방’을 위한 ‘완전한 기도’ 즉 ‘기도중의 기도’라 할 수 있다.
이 때문에 이중표 목사에게 있어서 ‘주의 기도’는 예수 당시에만 유효하게 통용되었던 것이 아니라, 오늘날에도 여전히 그리스도인들에게 새로운 삶의 방향을 제시해 줌으로써, 그리스도인의 삶의 스타일(Life-Style)에 대한 총체적인 변혁을, 다시 말하면 ‘기도’와 ‘삶’의 통전적인 일치를 요청하고 있다. 이러한 의미에서 이 목사는 자신의 ‘주의 기도 강해’를 통해서 다음과 같은 질문들을 던지면서, 그것들에 대한 대답을 찾기 위해 전력을 기울이지 않을 수가 없었다.
한국의 그리스도인들이 진정 주기도의 깊은 의미를 제대로 알고 암송하는 것일까? 과연 그들이 이 땅에 살면서도 하나님의 나라에 소망을 두고 있을까? 과연 그들은 두 발로 이 땅위에 굳게 서서 하늘을 바라보면서, 아버지의 이름이 거룩히 여김을 받고, 주님의 나라가 임하기를 그래서 그의 뜻이 이루어지기를 간절히 사모하며 기원하고 있는가? 과연 그들이 ‘주의 기도’를 가르친 예수처럼, 사회적, 경제적, 정치적으로 비인간화시키는 사회질서를 변혁하는 ‘자유의 행진(누가 4:16-21)’에 기꺼이 참여할 수 있을까?
위의 질문들에 전적으로 동감하는 필자는 우선적으로 이 중표 목사의 ‘주의 기도 강해’를 간략하게 살펴봄으로써 그 질문들에 대한 대답을 찾고, 더 나아가서 ‘주의 기도’가 다른 어떤 기도보다도 한국의 교회와 그리스도인들에게 어떠한 위험을 감수하더라도 이 세상의 변혁을 실천(Praxis)할 수 있는 능력을 부여해 주는 실제적이고 역동적인 기도(practical & dynamic Prayer)’임을 밝힐 것이다. 이러한 논문의 목적을 이루기 위해서 필자는 1장 들어가는 말(Introduction)에서 ‘주의 기도’의 특징과 중요성을 2장에서 기도의 위기와 ‘주의 기도’와 관련한 탄원기도의 특징을 밝히기 위해 일반적인 기도의 형식들(감사/찬양기도; 탄식/탄원기도)을 개략적으로 서술할 것이다. 3장에서 이 중표 목사의 ‘주의 기도 강해’를 집중적으로 살펴보고, 4장에서 ‘주의 기도’가 한국교회와 그리스도인들에게 ‘역동적인 신앙과 삶’의 방향을 제시함으로써 결론을 맺고자 한다.

영어초록

The first part of "the Lord's Prayer" which Jesus taught his disciples directly talks about asking to three "You" related to God, that is, Father, being hallowed Thy Name, Thy Kingdom, and Thy Will. Four petitions which are mentioned in the later part related to human beings are about daily bread, forgiveness, temptation following us all the time, and evil which tempts us. The Lord's Prayer is "A connection between heavenly suffering with earthly suffering". In other words, the Lord's Prayer is "Perfect Prayer" that is, "the prayer of prayers" for "whole liberation" having a proper relationship practically with keeping unity from the beginning to the end in every thing like between God and human beings, heaven and earth, religious things and political things. Because of this, to Rev. JungPyo Lee, the Lord's Prayer was circulated effectively in Jesus' generation as well as still it suggests a new direction for life to Christians until now. By this influence, the Lord's Prayer requests total change to Christians' life style, that is, general oneness between "Prayer" and "Life". In this meaning, Rev. Lee had to put his all of effort to seek answers for them with asking a question through his book, "Interpretation of the Lord's Prayer".
Do Christians in Korea memorize the Lord's Prayer with understanding real deep meanings of the Lord's Prayer? Do they have hope in God's kingdom even though they live in this earth? Do they long for and wish for Father's name being hallowed, coming God's kingdom, then God's will being done with looking at the heaven while they put their feet on this earth?
Like Jesus who taught "the Lord's Prayer", can they participate in changing social orders which dehumanizing people socially, economically and politically?
I who agree on these questions totally, first of all try to find answers for these questions with looking at Rev. Lee's book, "Interpretation of the Lord's Prayer" briefly, and further more clarify that the Lord's Prayer more than any other prayers is the practical and dynamic Prayer which gives an ability to practice changing this earth even though Korean Churches and Christians face any kinds of danger.
To accomplish this purpose, in Chapter 1(Introduction), I will talk about the character and importance of "the Lord's Prayer", in Chapter 2, the crisis of the prayer, and the forms of general Prayer(Thanksgiving- Praising Prayer & Prayer for Lamentation-Petition) to clarify a character of Asking-Prayer related to the Lord's Prayer.
In Chapter 3, I will explain concentrately Rev. Lee's book, "Interpretation of the Lord's Prayer". In Chapter 4(Conclusion) I will point out a direction of 'dynamic belief and life' which "the Lord's Prayer" suggests to Korean Churches and Christians.
