패션사진과 오마주 (Fashion Photography and Hommage)

초록

연구배경 거장에 대한 외경심이 창작의 동기가 되는 오마주는 영화예술 분야에서 부각된이래 주요한 창작 방법의 하나로 주목받으며 현대의 다양한 창작 분야 내에서 굳게 자리잡고 있다. 이는 1세기의 역사를 갖는 패션사진 속에서도 확실한 자취를 확인할 수 있다. 본 연구는 예술에 대한 오마주를 품어왔던 패션사진의 구체적 형식과 의미를 분석함으로써 패션사진 분야의 현재와 발전적 미래를 조망하는데 의의를 갖는다.
연구방법 본 연구에서는 미술사, 특히 회화사의 거장을 향한 오마주가 드러나는 패션사진을 주요 연구대상으로 삼아 20세기 중반부터 최근까지의 패션사진 중 해당 사례를 수집하였고 이를 오마주 원본 대상과 비교하며 분석하였다. 외형적 형식 분류과정을 통해서 오마주기법이 사용된 패션사진의 형식을 유형별로 분류하였고 내재적인 관점에서 갖는 오마주 기법의 현대적 의미를 고찰하는데 주력하였다.
연구결과 오마주가 경의의 뜻을 품고 기존의 창작물을 현대적으로 재해석하는 것이라는 점에 근거하여, 수집된 패션사진의 외형상 분류를 시도한 결과, 피사체와 배경의 구조를 반영함으로써 재해석한 경우, 색채와 질감에 중점을 둔 감각적 재해석의 경우, 그리고 모델의 패션스타일을 재해석한 경우로 분류가 가능하였다. 패션사진의 오마주는 고전 예술작품이 갖고 있는 생명을 창조적으로 잇고자 하며, 산업과 현대예술 양자 간의 매개 역할이 되어 대중의 시선을 끄는 강력한 이미지 역할을 하는데 일조하고 있다. 한편, 변화하는 새 시대의 오마주는 새로운 표현기법으로 확장, 상승하고 있음을 확인하였다.
결론 진본을 계승하면서도 차이를 꿈꾸게 하는 오마주는 숙명적으로 차이와 변화를 지향하는 패션산업에서 패션사진의 표현기법으로서 앞으로도 비중있게 나타날 것이며, 진보하는인간의 사유와 기술에 비춰볼 때 그 다양한 전개에 대한 기대가 매우 크다 할 수 있다.

영어초록

Background Since hommage, a genre in which awe for a maestro is the creativemotive, appeared as a characteristic in the film arts field, it has been considered as oneof the leading creative methods and has established itself in various fields of modern art.
Hommage can also be found in fashion photography, which has a century-long history.
This study analyzes the specific formats and significances of fashion photography whichhas paid hommage to art, in order to examine current fashion photography and suggestdirections for its future development.
Methods This study took art history, especially fashion photographs which showhommage to the maestros in the history of the painting of art, as the major study object.
It collected relevant examples of fashion photographs taken in hommage from the mid-20th century until recently, and analyzed them by comparing them with the originals ofthe hommage. The formats of those fashion photographs were classified into differentcategories and then examined in terms of intrinsic significances in modern art.
Results Based on the fact that hommage is a modern reinterpretation of the existingcreations with awe, this study classified the collected fashion photographs into thefollowing: those reinterpreting the originals by reflecting the structure of the subject andits background, those performing sensory reinterpretation focused on color and texture,and those reinterpreting the fashion style of the models. Hommage of the fashionphotographs intends to creatively extend the life of classic works of art, and has actedas an intermediary between industry and modern art and thus become a powerful toolthat helps attract the public’s interest in the fashion photographs. On the other hand, itwas confirmed that in this new age of change hommage has extended and risen to a newtechnique of expression.
Conclusion Hommage, which succeeds the originals and seeks differentiation, willbecome an important technique of fashion photographic expression in the fashionindustry that pursues differences and changes and in the light of progressing humanreason and technology, it is expected to develop in various ways.
