There are uncompromising conflicts between individual's desire and happiness of families in Cassavetes' melodrama He presents us alternative family memberships as with pets and
without blood relationship in the film. John Cassavetes also shows some episodes in order to give some reason in crossed family relationship. We could seesome kind of weird scenes in <Love Streams> and <A Killing of Chinese bookie>. Main role, Robert in <Love Streams>, he used to dance with girl friend's mom during girl friend's absence. Another main role, Cosmo in <A Killing of a Chinese Bookie> he also enjoys girl friend's mom without her. It seems that girl friend's mom is more intimate than hers with men. They would feel more comfortablewith others who are unrelated with them than their lovers. We could see these ironies in Cassavetes' films.
For instance, Robert in <Love Streams> doesn't feel intimacy with Albie who is Sara's daughter. He prefers another relationship which could buy with money. Sara also leaves him though Robert promises that he cares for her for a long time. She meets guys whom met once in the past. We can divide Cassavetes' films into two groups. First, deconstruction is a motive in drama like <Love Streams> and <Faces>, another intimacy is motivation in film like <Minnie and Moskowitz>, <A Woman under the Influence> and <A Child is Waiting>. Cassavetes shows us that family relationship and inharmony with individuals could drive human the stateof alienation in any cases. Some characters have some hurts even if they return their nest. Others sail away towards new life like Sara in <Love Streams>. Thus, Cassavetes' film upsets ordinary structure of melodrama that generally secures characters' happiness Many of characters in Cassavetes films can't be guaranteed. Finally they have to seek new alternative relationships in order to restore their consolation like nomads who wander in a steppe.
