중앙경찰학교 교육생의 진로선택과 진로만족, 학교적응 연구 (A Sutdy on the Choice and Satisfaction of Career, and School Adaptation among Police Trainee at the Central Police Academy in South Korea)

초록

신임경찰관의 능력은 자신이 맡은 업무를 수행하는 과정에서 자연스럽게 배양될 수도 있다. 하지만 업무수행을 통해 배울 수 있는 지식에는 한계가 있기 때문에 능력배양에 필요한 지식, 기술, 태도를 교육기관을 통해서 인위적이고 능동적으로 함양시키게 된다. 중앙경찰학교는 신임경찰관들이 현장에서 직무를 효과적으로 수행하기 위한 원칙, 절차 및 필요한 지식과 기법을 배양시키는 신규임용 기본교육기관이며, 경찰관들의 성공적인 직무수행을 위해서 매우 중요한 교육기관이며, 교육생의 교육수행과 집중은 능력배양을 위한 중요하다. 따라서 이 연구는 중앙경찰학교 교육생의 효과적인 교육수행과 집중을 위한 정책수립의 기초자료를 제공할 목적으로 교육생의 진로선택과 진로만족이 교육수행과 집중에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 실증조사연구를 실시하였다. 중앙경찰학과 신임순경 교육생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 518명의 설문지를 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과, 1) 여성과 남성 교육생은 학습선호, 활동참여, 교육만족, 교육수행, 교육집중에서 유의미한 차이를 나타내고 있으며 진로인식과 직업만족에서 남성교육생이 여자교육생 보다 높았다; 2) 경찰관련학과 전공 교육생이 직업만족에서 가장 높았다; 3) 경찰행정학과 특채와 101경비단의 입직형태가 전 영역에서 긍정적인 분석결과가 도출되었다; 4) 동아리 활동을 하는 교육생이 그렇지 않은 교육생 보다 전 영역에서 높게 나타났다; 5) 경찰공무원 채용시험과목 중 선택과목(국어, 사회, 수학, 과학)을 한 개라도 선택한 교육생이 낮게 나타났다; 6) 무도 단증을 소지한 교육생이 그렇지 않은 교육생 보다 전 영역에서 높게 나타났다; 7) 교육생들의 진로인식이 높을수록 교육수행의 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다; 8) 교육생들의 진로인식과 학습선호가 높을수록 교육집중의 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 연구의 결과에 따른 정책적 제언과 이 연구의 한계를 논의하였다.

영어초록

Newly appointed police officers can cultivate their job skills naturally by performing own duties. However, there is a limit to learn special knowledge through only performing duties, the police officers accumulate their knowledge, skills and attitudes for developing own ability through an educational institution, both artificially and actively. Because the Central Police Academy educates the police officers for principles, procedures, knowledge and skills that are essential to perform their duties effectively at workplace, it is very critical educational institution. In this regard, the current research conducted an empirical assesment in order to provide basic information for a policy making, which would be useful in effective educational practices and for improving educational concentration of educand, by suggesting the fact that how educand’ career choice and satisfaction affects educational practices and concentration of educand. This research surveyed the educand constables of the Central Police Academy and analyzed 518 survey responses. The result shows that: 1) There are significant differences between female and male educand in learning preference, participation, satisfaction of education, educational practice and concentration, and male educand shows higher career recognition and satisfaction than female educand do; 2) The educand who studied police related major show highest rate of career satisfaction; 3) The educand from the 101st PPSC and the special employment program of the Police Administration major students show positive analysis results in all area of factors; 4) The number of educand who participate in club activities is higher in all area than the number of others who does not participate in; 5) There is a small number of educand who chose at least one of elective subjects(Korean language, social studies, mathematics, and science) in the police officer recruitment test; 6) The number of educand who has martial arts certificate is higher than the number of others who does not have in all area; 7) The higher career recognition of educand, the higher educational practice of educand; and 8) The higher career recognition and learning preference of educand, the higher level of educational concentration of educand. The policy implications as a result of findings and the limitations of the research were discussed at the last part of this current study.
