전후의 혼란스러운 상황 속에서 일본에 남은 조선인들은 자신들을 위한 조직을 만들어야 했다. 조국은 해방되었지만 곧바로 조국에 돌아갈 여건이 형성되지 못했고, 미군이 점령하고 있는 일본에서 자신들의 정치적, 경제적 이해관계를 대변해 줄 수 있는 조직이 필요했기 때문이다. 이 조직 중에서 가장 영향력이 큰 조직은 좌파 성향의 재일본조선인연맹이었고, 두 번째 조직은 우파 성향의 재일조선거류민단이었다. 조선의 남쪽과 북쪽에 각기 다른 이념의 정부가 들어서면서 같은 민족이라는 정서를 공유했던 일본의 조선 사회는 조국의 분단 현실의 영향을 받으면서 이들 두 조직은 점차 대립적인 성향을 나타내게 되었다.
전후의 조선은 미·소 군정 하의 분할 주둔으로 신탁통치에 대한 좌우익간의 찬반 갈등이 극심한 상황이었다. 이러한 상황에서 1948년 8월 15일 대한민국 단독정부가 수립되었는데, 재일조선인의 입장에서 보면 두 개의 조국이 생겨나는 결과가 된 셈이다. 이에 그 당시에 발행된 신문의 사설을 통해서, 재일조선인들은 당시에 그들이 처해 있는 상황과 조국의 현실을 어떻게 인식하고 있었는지, 그리고 그들이 지향하고자 했던 문제의식은 무엇에 있었는지 등에 대해서 재일조선인 발행 신문 중에서 각기 정치적, 이념적 성향이 다른 『民主新聞』과 『朝連中央時報』, 『文敎新聞』 의 사설을 통해서 알아보았다. 세 기관지의 사설은 공히 민족주의와 반일적인 성향을 띠면서도 각기 정치적, 이념적인 성향을 달리 표출하고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

영어초록

Koreans who still remained in Japan amid chaos after the end of the Second World War felt desperate to form organizations representative of themselves. The main reason behind the formation of such organizations was that zainichi Koreans needed them through which their own political and economic interests could be advocated and protected as one of the ethnic minority groups in Japan, given the circumstance that they could not afford to return to their homeland even after the liberation in 1945. Of them, the most influential zainichi Koreans-led organizations in Japan included, first, the leftist Chongryun (the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan) and, second, the rightist Mindan (the Korean Residents Union in Japan). Following the division of Korea into two politically disparate independent governments being established in the democratic South and the communist North, respectively, the zainichi Korean community in Japan – all having long been closely bound up with the shared sentiment of having the same ethnic roots as Korean – began to become gradually polarized, leading these two leading zainichi organizations to become more and more hostile to each other as a result.
Korea in the postwar period has been in turmoil in the light of a severe confrontation between the left and the right over a trusteeship of Korea under the divided occupancy of the U.S. and Soviet military governments. Under this sociopolitically tumultuous circumstance, on August 15, 1948, an independent Republic of Korea was established on the U.S.-occupied southern half of the Korean Peninsula;consequently,forzainichi Koreans this meant the creation of two separate homelands. In this context, this research thus explores questions like how zainichi Koreans have endeavored to understand their own realities in Japan at that time and the ones in their respective homelands, how critically they have seen and problematized the situations, and so forth, by examining editorials featured in three politico-ideologically disparate ones – The Minsyu-shimbun (民主新聞), Choryun Jungangshibo (朝中央時報), and The Bungkyo-Shimbung (文敎新聞) – selected out of zainichi Koreans-published newspapers at that time.
