한국 군선교의 문제점들에 대한 기독교교육적 모색 (An Attempt in Christian Education to Solve the Problems of Korean Missionary Work in the Military)

초록

현재 한국교회는 위기의 상황에 놓여 있다. 주일학교를 포함하여 청년대학부에 이르러 젊은 청년들의 교회이탈은 상상했던 것에 비하여 훨씬 심각하며, 새 신자 교육은 교회마다 겪는 매우 큰 어려움에 속한다. 이것은 한국교회의 현실이 전도하기가 점점 더 어려워지고 있다는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 가운데 청년신자들은 급격하게 감소하고 있다. 한국교회는 청년전도에 어려움을 겪고 있으며 개신교 교회를 떠나고 있는 연령층이 10대 후반에서 30대의 교인이라는 사실은 청년들이 교회를 외면하고 있다는 사실을 암시한다. 한국에서 20-30대 계층이 더 많은 수를 차지하고 있음에도 불구하고 현재 한국교회에서 그들의 수는 매우 미비한 실정이다.
현재 교회에서의 청년전도가 어렵고 인원이 감소하는 현상이 두드러지는 가운데 군 선교야말로 가장 중요한 대안이 되는 반면 민족 복음화의 첩경이 될 수 있다. 군 선교는 한국 60만의 군인들이 예수를 그리스도로 고백하여 하나님의 백성이 되도록 복음을 전파하며 전도하는 실제적인 행위이다. 한국 군대는 만 18세 이상의 대한민국의 신체 건강한 남성이면 육군을 기준으로 21개월 동안 군 생활을 해야 하는 곳으로 청년전도의 기회를 준다.
군 선교는 한국교회를 위해서 그리고 하나님의 선교적인 측면에서 막중한 책임을 가지고 있으나 어떤 측면으로 접근하는 것이 효과적인가 하는 군 선교전략적인 문제가 있다. 현대 한국군대는 급변하고 있다. 과거와 같이 군인들은 강압적인 분위기나 강요에 의해서 병영생활이나 훈련을 하지 않는다. 이러한 모습은 종교나 신앙 활동에 있어서도 자연스러운 현상으로 나타났다. 이는 스스로의 결정에 의해서 종교를 선택할 수 있고 종교행사에 참여할 수 있게 되었을 뿐 아니라 누군가에 의해서 종교를 강요받을 수 없게 된 것을 의미한다. 이에 군 선교 현장 안에서 군인들에게 복음을 효과적으로 전하는 것은 한국교회의 대단히 중요한 과제라 아니할 수 없다. 하나님의 복음을 효과적으로 전하여 군 선교가 성공적으로 이루어지기 위해서 기독교교육적인 모색이 필요하다고 생각한다.
그러므로 본 논문은 군 선교의 문제점들에 대하여 먼저 파악하여 군 선교적인 측면에서 기독교교육적인 모색이 어떻게 형성되어야 하는가를 논의 하고 효율적인 군 선교전략적인 측면을 매우 중요하게 다루면서 그 해답을 기독교교육적인 관점에서 다루고 있다.

영어초록

Today, as it is becoming more difficult to evangelize in the reality of Korean church, the number of young Christians is decreasing rapidly. Korean church is facing difficulties in evangelizing youths, and the fact that the age groups leaving the Protestant Church are those in the late 10s to 30s implies that youths are turning away from the church. Even though people in their 20s and 30s take up a big part of Korean society, their number is highly insufficient in Korean church today. For example, J Methodist Church has 2,000 people attending the Sunday service for adults, while only 30-40 youths attend. In S Presbyterian Church, an average of 5,000 prime-aged believers attend the service, while only approximately 150 youths are attending.
With the difficulty in evangelizing youths and the remarkable decrease in the number of young Christians, missionary work in the military is the most important alternative as well as the shortcut to national evangelization. Missionary work in the military is an actual act of preaching the gospels and evangelizing so that 600,000 soldiers in Korea confess Jesus as the Christ and become the people of God. The Korean military is where healthy men of age 18 or above in Korea must offer service for 21 months (in the case of the army), providing an opportunity for evangelization of youths.
Missionary work in the military has tremendous responsibilities in terms of Korean church and mission of God, but there is an issue of strategy for missionary work in the military regarding what approach can be effective. The Korean military is changing rapidly today. Soldiers no longer live an army life or receive training under coercive atmosphere or by force as they did in the past. This also became natural in religion or religious activities. This indicates that soldiers can choose their religion by their own decision and participate in religious events, and that they are no longer forced to have a certain religion by others. Thus, it has become an extremely important task for the Korean church to effectively preach the gospels to soldiers during missionary work in the military. It is necessary to seek solutions in terms of Christian education in order to succeed in missionary work in the military by effectively preaching the gospels of God. Therefore, discussing how to do that in terms of missionary work in the military through this study is significant in finding efficient strategies for missionary work in the military.
This essay first mentions the characteristics of the military society in order to properly understand the military and explains the problems of missionary work in the Korean military under such unique circumstances. After that, it aims to find solutions to missionary work in the military, and promote Christian education with a new approach.
