고려가요 <쌍화점>의 후대전승과 현대적 변용 (The modern acculturation of the song of Goryeo)

초록

남녀의 색정적 사랑을 나타내는 고려가요<쌍화점>은 고려 충렬왕(忠烈王:재위 1274∼1308) 때의 가요로 작자미상의 곡이다. <쌍화점>은 궁중의 연회에서 연행한 작품으로 『악장가사』에 실려 전하고 있으나, 남녀 사이의 노골적인 성관계를 노래했다는 이유로 조선 성종 때에는 ‘남녀상열지사’ 또는 ‘음사(淫辭)’라고 하여 사람들이 기피하자 약간의 개작(改作)을 했다.
그러나 고려가요 <쌍화점>은 단순히 궁중연회에서 쓰이던 가창(歌唱)물로만 그치는 것이 아니라 다양한 장르로의 변형을 꾀하고 새로운 생명력을 부여 받으면서 후대인의 관심에서 벗어나지 않고 있다. <쌍화점>을 후대에 와서 변용한 창작자들은 고려시대의 고려가요를 자신이 처한 현실의 상황에서 설명하면서 그들이 지향하는 바를 적극적으로 설명하고 있다.
급암 민사평의 악부에서는 퇴폐적인 당시의 성윤리와 평민의 현실적인 모습을 짐작할 수 있게 한다. 서포 김만중의 악부에서는 사대부가 겪는 부조리한 정치세계에 대한 자신의 입장을 표명하고 자 했다. 악부로 변용한 <쌍화점>에서는 단순히 ‘성(性)’의 문제만을 다루는 것이 아니라 그들이 처한 사회적 문제를 직면하고 있다고 볼 수 있다.
다양한 도전을 통해 고려가요 <쌍화점>을 현대적으로 변용한 현대시, 현대소설, 영화에서는 현대의 작가들이 지향하는 주제가 극명하게 드러났고, 양심을 잃은 시대에 대하여 세밀하게 통찰하기를 바라는 견고한 경고의 메시지가 담겨 있다. <쌍화점>의 후대 작가들은 일상적이고 평범한 소재들을 사용하여 인간의 현실적인 삶의 모습을 재현하고, 인간의 내면에 존재하는 금기라는 욕망과 현실을 현대인의 감각에 맞추어서 사실적으로 보여주고 있다.

영어초록

<Ssang hwa jum>, a song from Goryeo which represents a carnal desire is a song made in the time of king Chung reul(1274~1308) by an unkown author. <Ssang hwa jum> is told to be performed in the banquets held in the palace, according to <Akjanggasa>, but it was reformed in the time of king Sungjong,when it was avoided for singing about a sexual behavior between a man and a woman openly.
However <Ssang hwa jum>, a song of Goryeo, did not stop as a song sung in banquets, but went under various changes in genre, which gave it new life and endless attention from the following generations. The creators who changed the songs explained the song according to their current conditions and actively explained what they were aiming for.
In a poem version by Gupam Minsaepeung, is a story between a man in power and a woman who’s identity is unknown, showing the corrupt sexual ethics of that time and a realist life of a commoner. In the work of Seopo Manjungkim, he tried to hold the unfair political world a noble faces. It can be seen that the poem versions of <Ssang hwa jum> does not only hold ‘sexual’ problems but also holds the social problem they were facing.
In the various modern poems, novels, and films which were made from continuous challenges towards <Ssang hwa jum>, the goals the artists were aiming for were clearly visible and held a strong message of warning to the generations that lost their honesty, asking them to take a deep look inside. The modern poets that changed <Ssang hwa jum> used normal and average materials to express the modern life of men and realistically showed the taboo known as cravings and reality, suitably to the modern taste.
In the novel <Ssang hwa jum> by Hansuk jeong, she is trying to change the lives of the modern men. She emphasizes on the need of a reality where men, who has the ability of perception, and socially weak mix together and communicate, and actively expresses the periodical situation and will that we must change.
In the movie, is shows the sexual want of a woman and expresses the current gynocentric situation which is seeking its identity.
Since the song <Ssang hwa jum> was not isolated in that era and went through various methods by the following artists to fit their current situation, we will try to approach the various undertone the original holds.
