초록

With the advent of the era of local autonomy, the government is trying to find its own culture in any region, establish its own regional characteristics, and develop them as cultural and tourism products. However, excessive motivation and policies that were not indigenous with the local people rather hurt locality or undermined sustainability, and overlooked the need for preservation. Against this backdrop, it is not easy to discuss the selection of local cultural contents and how to utilize, promote and develop them. In response, the study seeks to examine the methodology of discovering local culture and how to use it as a sustainable growth engine through the National Folk Museum of Korea's “Year of Local Folk Culture,” a major national cultural institution.
It is noteworthy that the project will be organized into experiential contents such as extracting and exhibiting cultural representation based on the folk survey in cooperation with the region. Through this, tangible and intangible local cultural assets become cultural contents, providing spatialized experiences and creating visualized promotional materials, thereby providing scalability to the public. The spatialized content through regional survey reports and spatial curating, organized from the know-how and perspective of cultural institutions, will be a good example for understanding and promoting local culture. It suggests that this could be a solution to the conflicting problems of development and preservation, as well as poor symbolism and storytelling.
