전쟁기 강원 지역 시동인지 『청포도』 (Cheongpodo, a Poetic Coterie Magazine in Gangwon Region of the War Period)

초록

이 글은 강원도와 강릉 근대 지역문학에서 첫 동인으로 알려진 청포도동인회와 동인지 『청포도』를 대상으로 이루어진 본격적인 첫 구명이다. 이제껏 실증적인 면모조차 밝혀지지 않은 것이다. 논의는 청포도동인회의 조직과 활동상을 먼저 밝히고, 동인시의 됨됨이를 따지는 순서로 나누었다. 첫째, 청포도동인회는 『청포도』를 1952년과1953년 두 차례 냈다. 이를 터무니로 동인회 출범은 전쟁기인 1950년대 초반으로 알려져 왔다. 그런데 기록에 따르면 동인의 출범과 결성은 나누어 보아야 한다. 동인 조직은 강릉농업중학과 강릉여고, 그리고 강릉사범학교로 이어졌던 학연․지연을 바탕으로1949년 무렵에 출범했다. 전쟁으로 활동이 잠시 멈추었다가 『청포도』 출판으로 동인결성을 공식화했다. 둘째, 『청포도』 창간호는 부산에서, 2집은 대구에서 냈다. 동인 수는 황금찬․최인희 교사 세대와 함혜련․이인수․김유진 제자 세대, 5명에서 바뀌지 않았다. 그들 사이 연결망 밀도는 높았지만, 사제 관계는 연결망 지속성에서 느슨해질 가능성이 있었다. 그리하여 두 교사가 1954년 서울로 일터를 옮긴 뒤 동인회는 해체순서를 밟았다. 셋째, 작품 안쪽 요소로 볼 때 동인시는 아어(雅語) 중심의 시어 선택과 글말투를 보여 준다. 가락 또한 2음보․3음보 정형률을 바탕에 놓고 단정한 형태를 되풀이했다. 게다가 그 무렵 우파 주류시와 영향 관계가 뚜렷하다. 관습 지향적이었던셈이다. 넷째, 『청포도』 동인시는 자연 대상을 향한 소박한 인식이나 막연히 애상적인 내면 정서를 되풀이 속살로 담아냈다. 현실 경험의 재현적 진실에는 관심이 없었다.
시적 주체 또한 현실과 거리를 둔 채 순결하고 순수한 애상주의 주체를 좇아감으로써 솔직한 자기표현과는 거리가 있었다. 게다가 독자에게는 유미적 동일시를 강요하는 듯한 감상적 태도를 거듭해 감동을 이끌어내는 데 장애 요인을 키웠다. 따라서 작품 바깥쪽 요소로 볼 때 『청포도』의 시는 전반적으로 보수적인 성향을 드러냈다. 청포도동인회와 『청포도』는 광복기부터 강릉이라는 소지역 지연과 사제의 학연이 5년 남짓 동안 가꾸어 낸 이채로운 문학 활동이었다. 그럼에도 그들 시는 관습 지향적이고 보수적인 됨됨이 탓에 그 무렵 여느 시와 견주어 높은 수준에 이른 것은 아니었다. 따라서 그들 시는 동인 자신뿐 아니라 지역 다음 세대에게도 전통임과 아울러 극복 대상이기도 했다.

영어초록

This paper is the first research targeting Cheongpodo literary coterie andits magazine known as the first poetic coterie in modern local literature ofGangwon-do and Gangneung. Still, its empirical look has not been revealed.
Revealing the coterie Cheongpodo's organization and activities, the characterof the coterie poems was examined.
First, the coterie published Cheongpodo twice in 1952 and 1953. Based onit, the establishment of the coterie has been known as the war period in theearly 1950s. However, the establishment and formation of the coterie shouldbe divided. The coterie organization was established in around 1949 basedon the regionalism/school relations through Gangneung Agricultural HighSchool, Gangneung Girls' High School, and Gangneung School of Education.
Pausing the activity due to the war, the formation of the coterie wasformalized by publishing Cheongpodo.
Second, the first issue of Cheongpodo was published in Busan while itssecond issue was published in Daegu. The number of its member was notchanged from five people such as the teacher generation like HwangGeumchan, and Choi Inhee, and the disciple generation like Ham Hyeryeon,Lee Insoo, and Kim Yujin. Even though the density of their network washigh, their relationship between teacher and disciple could be loosen in thecontinuity of network. Therefore, the coterie was gradually broken up aftertwo teachers moved to Seoul in 1954.
Third, regarding the internal elements of works, poems of the coterieshowed writing pattern and poetic language focusing on refined words. The neat form was repeated based on two or three metre. Moreover, theyshowed the clear influence relationship with the right-wing mainstreampoems of the time, which was the custom-oriented.
Fourth, poems of the coterie Cheongpodo contained the simple perceptionof nature or vaguely repeated the sorrowful internal emotions. There wasnot much interest in the reproductive truth of reality experience. Regardingthe poetic main agent, it was far distant from honest self-expression byfollowing the main agent of pure sorrowfulness distant from the reality.
Moreover, it was an obstacle factor to draw deep touching by repeating theappreciative attitude just like forcing readers to have esthetic identification.
Therefore, regarding the external elements of works, overall, poems of thecoterie showed the conservative tendency.
The coterie and its Cheongpodo were such unusual literary activitiesformed by school relations between teacher and disciple and regionalism in asmall region of Gangneung from Independence for about five years.
Nevertheless, compared to other cities of the time, their poems did not showthe higher level because of their custom-oriented and conservative character.
Thus, their poems were not only the tradition, but also the subject toovercome to the coterie members and also the next generation in the region.
