초록

The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the view of human being as a dynamic somatic-kinetic agent of God for the purpose of God and the service in his kingdom. The human subject is the primary representative of God on earth who bears the “image of God” by virtue of creation. The image of God (imago Dei) can be understood in a substantial/structural sense (rational, emotional, spiritual, volitional, moral, aesthetic, linguistic, social, etc.). But the dynamic understanding of human being as the image of God must imply both relationship with God and function as God’s representative agent. The primary mode of an agent of God, then, is to exercise his/her God-given capacity and responsibility to properly engage in all life action and mission in relation to God and his will.
The human agent is a living entity, a personal being comprised of both soul and body in a holistic unity. The human body perceives the outside world and informs the soul, but the body also expresses the soul to God and the world, and serves as an instrument of God in this world through its diverse expressions of movement in sync (ideally) with the soul. Thus, the human being in essence is the “embodied soul” or “ensouled body” in dynamic motion whose life and destiny in God is to serve him as his special agent on earth.
But this call and destiny cannot be realized apart from the redemptive work and incarnational model of Christ. In other words, the imago Dei identity and agency can only be fully realized in Christ, and thus the preferable term for the ideal sense of human identity and agency is imago Christi. This identity in Christ can only be found in the state of union with Christ through faith in Christ. This agency in Christ implies a modus operandi of abiding in Christ and the ways of Christ. It is, then, the primary work of the Holy Spirit to link the human agent to Christ and to align all his/her endeavors in life, ministry, and mission to Christ’s way in accordance with God’s will. The outline of the thesis is as follows: (1) human(s) as imago Dei and imago Christi (substantial/structural view, relational view, functional view, redeemed view); (2) somatic-kinetic model of human agency (embodiment ― somatic paradigm; movement ― kinetic paradigm); and (3) missiological implications of human agency (source of mission ― God/Trinity; agency of mission ― human/church; means of mission ― Holy Spirit).
