독일 제 3제국의 과시 양식 특성 (Characteristics of Representative styles in the German Third Reich)

초록

국가사회주의자들은 건축과 디자인을 민족 자긍심과 애국심을 부흥시키는 핵심 도구로 보았다. “피와 땅” 이데올로기에 입각한 “민족문화” 창달로 강조하고 선전했던 건축의 결과물들은 정치적 목적과 선전효과에 맞춰 바이마르 공화국 시대에서 이룩한 다양한 양식 레퍼토리 중에서 선택적으로 짜 맞췄다. 우선, 독일 제 3제국은 신성로마제국을 계승하여 새로운 “천년 제국”을 건설하고자 하였기에, 그리스 로마 제국의 문화를 “북유럽 게르만 민족” 전통 문화의 기원으로 삼아 나치 특유의 신고전주의 양식을 창조하였다. 그로부터 거대하고 웅장한 인상을 주는, 강한 직선의 흐름과 직각구조의 반복을 통해 거대한 자연석 블록과도 같은 건축물들을 만들어냈다. 그리고 다른 편으로 게르만 신화로부터 아리안 혈통의 “북유럽 게르만 민족” 역사와 함께 오버잘츠부르크 산장에서와 같은 전통 민속 양식을 창조해냈다. 이러한 과시 양식은 ‘우리’라는 강한 공동체에 속하고자 열망했던 독일 국민들의 마음을 사로잡아, 아리안 민족의 우월성에 대한 자긍심을 높이고 민족공동체의 “우리-공감대”를 넓히고, 타자데 대한 강한 적개심을 키우는데 기여했다. 즉, 나치가 창조한 “북유럽 게르만 민족”의 전통 양식은 대다수의 국민들을 파시스트로 만들고 국가사회주의 폭력에 적극 동참하거나 최소한 묵인하도록 하는 기능을 충실히 다했던 것이다.

영어초록

The Nationalsocialist saw the architecture and design as a core instrument, that infuses national pride and patriotism into nation's hearts. Architectures and designs that the Nazis promoted to publicize their political objectives seem incoherent and, at times, paradoxical with one another, as the Nazis selectively adopted designs from a variety of repertoires that had already been established during the Weimar period. Nonetheless, these designs uniformly played an instrumental role in the spread of the Nazi's "national culture" and the "Blood and soil" ideology. At first, the Nazi's german Third Reich proclaimed itself to be the successor of the Holy Roman Empire and had to establish a new thousand year empire. Therein the culture of the Greek and Roman Empire was presented as the origin of traditional culture of the “Nordic-germanic nation”, and the Nazi's characteristic style of the Neoclassicism was invented. It followed that overdimensional gigantic architectures with monumental symmetry of strong line management, dominant rectangular and massive natural stone were builded and looked like to be gigantic massive stone block. And the other side, the “Nordic-germanic national” history of the germanic Aryan blood was narrated from the "Nordic-germanic mythology" and the traditional folklore styles as a example in the Berghof Obersalzburg were invented. All those representative styles enthralled the German Nation, who aspired to be a part of the great and powerful "our" national community, and feld them the national pride of the great Aryan folk. Thereby the "Wir-Gefühl" of the "our" national community with the accompany of strong hatred against the other was stimulated and broaden. Namely the Nazi's Invention, traditional styles of the “Nordic-germanic nation” drove Germans to be the fascist and to resort to, or at least silently yield to, violence against those who were determined as the other.
