판소리장단의 리듬형 재구성 유형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Types of Reconstructing the Rhythmic Forms of Pansori Jangdan)

초록

장단은 우리음악의 3요소(장단․선율․시김새) 중 가장 기본이 되는 요소라 할 수 있다. 또한 우리장단은 일반형의 박자구조나 리듬형이 일시적으로 재구성된다든가, 어떤 장단이 다른 장단을 일시적으로 내포하는 중첩구조가 쓰일 때가 많다. 그러나 장단의 리듬형 재구성 유형에 관한 연구가 창작에 응용할 수 있을 만큼 충분치 않은데다, 기존연구결과들은 창작에 바로 응용하기에는 적합지 못한 면이 있다. 따라서 본고는 장단의 리듬형 재구성 현상이 다양하고 빈번하게 나타나는 대표적 장르인 판소리를대상으로 각 장단의 리듬형이 재구성된 유형을 사설․선율형․리듬형의 세 측면에서 고찰함으로써 그구체적 기법을 밝혀 전통어법을 바탕으로 한 창작활동에 기여함을 목적으로 한다.
『브리태니커 판소리 다섯바탕』 전집 중에서 장단별로 리듬형이 재구성되는 부분을 찾아, 각 유형의대표적 사례를 실음 기준으로 채보 후, 채보 악보를 토대로 가사와 선율, 리듬의 세 가지 면에서 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 진양조에서는 진양조 2장단이 느린 중중모리 3장단으로 재구성된 예와 진양조 2/3장단이 엇중모리 1장단으로 재구성된 예를 찾을 수 있었다. 중모리에서는 중모리 1장단이 4/4박자로 재구성된 예와 중모리 2장단의 경계에 걸쳐 4/4박자로 재구성된 예, 그리고 중모리 반 장단이 중중모리 1장단 으로 재구성된 예와 중모리 4장단이 불규칙박자로 재구성된 예를 살펴보았다. 중중모리에서는 중중모리3장단이 단위박이 유지되면서 불규칙박자로 재구성된 예와 중중모리 2장단이 중모리 1장단으로 재구성된 예, 그리고 중중모리 2장단이 4/4박자 3마디로 재구성된 예를 살펴보았다. 자진모리에서는 자진모리3장단이 세마치(민요) 4장단으로 재구성된 예와 자진모리 2장단이 중중모리(잦은 중모리) 1장단으로 재구성된 예, 그리고 자진모리 4장단이 휘모리 6장단으로 재구성된 예와 자진모리 3장단이 빠른 진양조(세마치) 1장단과 엇중모리 1.5장단으로 복합적으로 재구성된 예, 또 자진모리 2장단이 불규칙박자로재구성된 예를 살펴보았다. 이는 다시 단위박이 변하지 않고 박자구조만 재구성되는 유형과 단위박이재설정되면서 박자구조와 리듬형까지 재구성되는 두 가지 유형으로 분류할 수 있다. 그리고 각각의 경우는 다시 규칙적 박자로의 재구성과 불규칙 박자로의 재구성으로 나뉠 수 있으며, 규칙적 박자로의 재구성은 다시 균등형 박자로의 재구성과 비균등형 박자로의 재구성으로 나뉠 수 있다.
판소리장단의 리듬형 재구성 원리는 일정한 강약의 주기를 가진 특정 리듬형이 일정한 범위의 빠르기로 계속 반복되는 우리장단의 구조 내에서 통일성 속의 다양성, 일관성 속의 가변성, 안정 속의 변화를 추구하는 매우 효과적인 수단이 될 수 있다. 우리전통음악에 이미 쓰이고 있는 이러한 뛰어난 기법들이 창작곡에도 널리 응용될 수 있기를 바라는 바이며, 본 연구가 전통어법을 바탕으로 창작하고자 하는 이들에게 다소의 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

Jangdan or the rhythmic patterns is the most important one of the three factors(jangdan,melody, sigimsae) of Korean traditional music. In Korean music, the generalized rhythmic structure or rhythmic forms are often reconstructed, and the reiterated structures in which a certain jangdan temporarily includes some other jangdan are often used. But the researches on the types of reconstructing the rhythmic forms of jangdan have not been made enough to apply in composition and the studies already made are not appropriate to the practical application.
Pansori is the representative genre in which such reconstruction phenomena happen variously and frequently. In this essay, the types of reconstructing the rhythmic forms of pansori is going to be examined in the three viewpoints: text, melodic types and rhythmic forms. That will help to clear the concrete techniques of reconstructing the rhythmic forms and contribute to the composition based on the traditional expressions.
From the collection of Britanica Pansori Daseot Batang, the parts in which rhythmic forms are reconstructed were chosen and the representative examples were transcribed at the actual pitch. On the basis of the transcription, text, melody and rhythm were examined and the followings are the conclusions of this research.
In jinyangjo, two kinds of reconstructed examples are found; ① two jinyangjo jangdan change into three jungjungmori jangdan, ② two thirds of one jinyang jangdan is reconstructed into one eotjungmori jangdan. The reconstructed examples in jungmori jangdan are ① one jungmori jangdan is reconstructed into 4/4 time, ② 12 beats are reconstructed into 4/4 time across the boundary of two neighboring jungmori jangdan, ③a half jungmori jangdan is reconstructed into one jungjungmori jangdan and ③ four jungmori jangdan are reconstructed into irregular time.
In jungjungmori, the following examples are examined. ① three jungjungmori jangdan are reconstructed into irregular time maintaining the unit beat, ② two jungjungmori jangdan are reconstructed into one jungmori jangdan, ③ two jungjungmori jangdan are reconstructed into three bars of 4/4 time.
The examined examples of jajinmori jangdan are ① three jajinmori jangdan are reconstructed into four semachi jangdan, ② two jajinmori jangdan reconstructed into one jungjungmori jangdan ③ four jajinmori jangdan are reconstructed into six huimori jangdan and ④ compound reconstructions in which three jajinmori jangdan are reconstructed into one fast jinyang jangdan and one and a half eutjungmori jangdan and ⑤ two jajinmori jangdan are reconstructed into irregular rhythm.
These reconstructions can be divided into two types. In one type, only the beat structure is reconstructed without any change in unit beat. Both the beat structure and the rhythmic forms are reconstructed in the other type. Each can be subdivided into regular and irregular reconstructions. The regular reconstructions can be divided into two, regular forms and irregular forms.
The principles of reconstructing the rhythmic forms in pansori jangdan can be very effective means to pursue variety in unity, variability in consistency, and change in stability.
I wish these kinds of techniques could be applied in composition, and this essay would be of some help to those who compose on the basis of Korean traditional musical expressions.
