초록

판소리 유파는 판소리가 오랜 세월 변화해온 과정 또는 파벌이나 갈래들의 차이를 설명하는 말이다. 판소리 동편제, 서편제, 중고제 용어는 판소리 역사나 갈래, 미학을 설명하는 기본 틀과도 관련이 있다.
판소리는 개성을 바탕으로 하므로 개인마다, 집안마다 차이가 난다. 19세기 중반 판소리는 양식화가 이루어지고 개인이나 집안, 사제 간에 도제식 전승 구조를 갖추게 되면서 계파마다 독특한 스타일이 형성되기 시작한다. 여러 계파나 스타일 중 후세까지 뚜렷한 영향을 끼치면서 큰 흐름을 형성한 명창은 송흥록과 모흥갑이었다. 이 두 명창의 소리는 서로 대조되는 특징을 보이면서 다른 갈래를 형성하였다. 양반 취향의 소리와 좀 더 대중적인 소리, 文班 취향의 소리와 武班 취향의 소리, 힘 있는 소리와 기교적인 소리, 남성 취향의 소리와 여성 취향의 소리, 고전적인 소리와 낭만적인 소리처럼 서로 대조되는 성향을 드러내기 시작했다. 송흥록 스타일이 양반 지향의 고전적인 소리라면, 모흥갑 스타일은 대중성이 짙은 표정적이고 낭만적인 경향을 띠었다. 이렇게 대조되는 양식을 동-서의 대조적인 구도로 인식하게 된 것이다.
동-서의 대립적인 흐름을 형성하게 되면 한 가닥은 보수적이고, 다른 한 가닥은 진보적일 수밖에 없다. 과거의 판소리일수록 사대부 사회의 기층음악인 가곡이나 풍류에 가까웠고, 새로운 소리일수록 민중들의 기층음악인 민요나 무속으로 가까워져 갔다. 이것은 사회를 움직이는 힘이 양반에서 민중으로 이행해가는 것과 같다. 조선조 사회에서는 당연히 사대부 취향의 소리가 높이 평가를 받았지만, 개화기 이후에는 양반 취향의 소리는 급격히 시장을 잃고 대중 취향의 소리가 세력을 얻게 되었다.
20세기로 접어들면서 근대 극장이 설립되고, 권번이나 유성기판을 통해 판소리가 유통이 되면서 소리판은 일대 지각변동을 일으켰다. 극장에서 절대다수를 차지하는 관객들, 권번을 드나들던 부르주아나 쁘띠부르주아들, 유성기판을 듣던 대중들은 조선조 사대부들과는 취향이 달랐다. 고제소리가 사라지고, 그 자리는 새로운 표정적인 소리, 연극적인 소리를 구사하는 새로운 스타일이 자리잡았다.
판소리는 처음에는 고제와 신제로 구분되었으나 차차 지역적인 특징을 깨닫기 시작했다. 판소리는 고제와 신제, 집단과 집단, 동쪽과 서쪽이라는 세 가지 개념이 서로 덮어쓰기 하면서 1940년경에 이르러 동편-서편이라는 용어가 만들어졌다. 그 과정에서 지역적인 특징에 부각되면서 古-新의 개념에서 나온 중고조라는 말이 지역적인 개념과 혼란을 일으켰다.
요컨대 판소리의 현상으로 놓고 보면 시간 개념과 공간 개념이 모두 다 타당성이 있다. 정노식은 공간(지역) 개념을 더욱 확장시켰는데, 시간 개념보다는 공간 개념을 앞세우면서 시간 개념을 놓쳤던 것이다. 현재의 유파개념은 이 시간개념과 공간개념이 음악개념과 뒤섞이면서 관념론으로 흐른 것이다. 동편제나 서편제 판소리는 우리의 관념 속에서 희미한 형상으로 있는 것이지, 실제 오늘날 현장에서 뚜렷이 구분되지 않는다.

영어초록

Pansori partisan (流派) is a description of the difference of pansori that has changed over the years, or the factional facts and divergence. The terms Eastern Style(Dongpyon-Jae), Western Style(Seopyon-Jae), and Old Style(Junggo-Jae), which refer to the Pansori partisan, are also related to the basic framework that explains Pansori history, branching, and aesthetics.
Pansori was made based on personality, so it varies from person to person and from family to family and differs from time to time.
Pansori was stylized in the mid-19th century. Pansori has an apprenticeship structure between individuals, families, and priests, and a unique style begins to form in each clan.
Song Heung-rok and Moheong-gap were the ones that formed a big flow, with a clear influence on the later generations among the various factions and styles. The music of the two great singer showed different characteristics, forming different branches. Pansori began to show contrasting tendencies. It was divided into noble and popular music, literary and general music, powerful and technical, male and female, classical and romantic. If Song Heung-rok's style was classical music, Moheung-gap is emotional and romantic with a strong popularity. This contrasting style was recognized as a contrasting composition of Eastern and Western Style.
If the confrontational flow between East and West is formed, one strand of nature is conservative, and the other strand is progressive. The past pansori was close to the Gagok style, a music of aristocratic society, and the new style was close to folk songs such as Folk and Shamanism Style, the basic music of the people. This is like the power that moves society shifts from aristocracy to the people. In the Joseon Dynasty, of course, the music of noble taste was highly appreciated, but after the modern era, noble style music rapidly lost its market and popular taste music gained power.
As the 20th century began, modern theater was established, and Pansori made a big change as it was distributed through the Kenban(Geisha Company) and 78rpm Records. This was because a new system that was not present in the Joseon Dynasty appeared.
Audiences who occupied the majority in the theater, bourgeoisie, petit bourgeoisie, who went to and from Geisha house, and the public who listened to the gramphone, they had different tastes from the Joseon Dynasty nobles. Old and classical music disappeared; instead, a new style of theatrical music, which was shared by the cast, was popular.
Pansori was initially divided into Old Style and New Style; however, it began to realize local features little by little. Pansori is Old Style and New Style; group and group; Eastern Style and Western Style, these three concepts overlap each other. As a result, the term east and west was coined by around 1940. Later, local features were emphasized; however, the terms from the concept of Old & New caused local concepts and confusion, because of the similarity of words.
As for the musical phenomenon of Pansori, Eastern & Western is the meaning of time and also the meaning of space. Jung Ro-sik further expanded the concept of space (region). But he misunderstood the concept of time called Junggo-Jae as a concept of local. As a result, there was a great confusion in interpreting the concept and aesthetics of modern Pansori. The Pansori Style concept used now is a mixture of three concepts: time, space and music, and as a result, it has flowed into idealism. But the ideological pansori is very different from the pansori in the field today.
