백제 색복제 관련사료의 재검토 (A Reexamination of Historical Records Related to the Coloured Dress System in Baekje)

초록

이 글에서는 백제의 색복제에 대하여 古代 中國王朝·日本과의 비교를 통하여 관련사료의 새로운 해석 가능성을 탐색해 보았다. 정리하면 다음과 같다.
고대 중국왕조에서 衣色으로 서열을 표시하는 衣色制는 5세기 후반 이후에나 등장할 가능성이 보였고, 확실히 제도로 정착한 것은 7세기 초였다. 5색이 서열화되고 紫色이 최고 서열의 색이 된 것은 도교의 영향에 의한 것인데, 이와 관련하여 크게 변화하는 시점은 5세기로 볼 수 있었다. 고대 일본의 관복제는 백제와 유사한 양상이 많이 보였지만, 제도로 정착한 초기인 7세기 초·중반에는 ‘의복’보다는 관이 중시되었다는 점이 주목되었다.
백제 색복제 관련사료를 검토한 결과, 색복제의 실시와 변천과정에 대한 어느 정도의 복원이 가능하였다. 먼저 중국측 사료를 검토하여 6세기 중반에 실시된 冠色制와 帶色制의 내용을 파악할 수 있었는데, 관색제와 대색제의 구조 자체는 동일하여, 장덕과 시덕, 문독과 무독이 하나의 경계를 이루었다. 반면 의색제는 『三國史記』와 『舊唐書』가 동일한 제도의 다른 내용을 전하는 것이었고, 630년대에 唐의 영향으로 실시된 것으로 파악할 수 있었다. 결국 백제의 경우도 고대 중국왕조·일본과 마찬가지로 색복제의 등장과정은 관색제가 먼저이고, 의색제가 나중이었던 것이다. 다만 대색제가 발달하였다는 것에 백제의 특징이 있었다고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This article explored the possibility of a new interpretation on related records of the Coloured dress system(色服制) through comparison of those in Chinese dynasties and Japan. To sum up, it is as follows.
In the ancient Chinese dynasty, Coloured cloth system(衣色制), which represents rank as cloth colour, seems to appear after the late fifth century, and firmly settled as a system early in the seventh century. It was the influence of Taoism that the five colours were ranked in a hierarchical order and violet colour became the color of the highest order. The time of great change in this connection can be seen in the fifth century. Although many aspects of the ancient Japanese Official dress system(官服制) were similar to that of Baekje, it was noted that official was more important than “dress” in the early and mid-7th century, which was the early period of that system.
After reviewing the records related to the coloured dress system in Baekje, a partial restoration of implementation and changing process of the system was possible. First, the contents of Coloured hat system(冠色制) and Coloured belt system(帶色制) in the middle of 6th century could be understood by the examination of Chinese historical records. The structure of those two systems was the same, then Jangdeok(將德) and Sideok(施德) formed a boundary, and so did Mundok(文督) and Mudok(武督). On the other hand, coloured cloth system in Samguksagi(三國史記) and Jiutangshu(舊唐書) were the same system but had different contents, and can be understood that it was implemented in the 630s by the influence of Tang(唐). In the Baekje Dynasty, similar to the ancient Chinese dynasties and Japan, coloured hat system appeared first, and coloured cloth system appeared later in the emergence of coloured dress system. Baekje, however, was characterized by the advances in coloured belt system.
