초록

This study is going to deal with <I wish, I knew>which is not only a critique essay of Shanghai but is also an alternative interpretation that seeks to dissolve a point of view of Shanghai in time. To expose the city spatially not timely, the film makes use of the memory and montage image while capturing Shanghai through the eyes of a city stroller. Another reading is an archive approach to the representation of Shanghai. By showing the formation process of Shanghai by a record in the archive, the film intends to criticize by revealing how the existing representation and memories included in historical narration was mainstreamed as a way of meta critique. In the movie, the discourse of Shanghai was given by path of the city of stroller. With her staring at images and memories represented in the city space and configuring a passage connecting it at the same time, she is performing a critical discourse to space. And it inevitably reveals her contradictory and paradoxical interpretive station. This is a poetic attempt of the film to create possibility through interpretation of the history.
