초록

리더는 변화를 일으키는 사람이다. 각자 처해진 환경 속에서 자기에게 주어진 리더십을 통해 선악 간에 영향력을 미치며 변화를 이끌어 내는 자가 리더이다. 이 땅에는 이타주의적 리더와 이기주의적 리더, 두 종류가 존재한다. 평상시에는 어떤 리더가 이타적인지, 이기적인지 구분하기 어렵다. 그러나 위기상황이 되면, 추수 때에 농부가 알곡과 쭉정이를 쉽게 골라내듯이 확연하게 드러난다. 1997년 12월 12일, 미국의 Wall Street Journal은 “한국경제의 위기는 리더십 부재에서 비롯되었다. 현재 한국의 리더십은 달러보다 더 고갈되어 있다.”며 대한민국의 IMF 경제위기를 리더십의 부재로 지적했다. 그 이후 대한민국은 온 국민들의 자발적인 노력으로 전 세계에서 가장 빠른 경제회복을 이루어 2013년 1인당 국민소득(GNI)이 26,205달러를 달성했다. 그러나 일시적으로 경제가 회복되었다 해도 리더들이 변화되지 못하고 성장하지 않는다면 제2, 제 3의 IMF와 같은 국가적 위기상황을 맞이하게 될 것이다.
현재 대한민국의 리더십은 얼마나 성장해 있을까? 불행히도 대한민국은 2014년 봄과 여름, 그리고 언제까지 이어질지 모르는 세월호 사건으로 인한 슬픔과 애통의 시간을 보내고 있다. 그런데 국민들을 더욱 절망과 비통함으로 몰아넣고 있는 것은 사건의 무엇 하나도 깔끔하게 처리 하지 못하는 무능한 리더십이다. 세월호 사건은 리더십의 부재가 낳은 또 하나의 불행이다. 무엇이 문제일까? 어디서부터 잘못된 것일까? 어떻게 해야 대한민국의 리더십 부재의 문제를 풀 수 있을까? 본 논문은 이런 문제를 제기하며, 마태복음 22장 34절-40절에 나타난 궁극적 리더십을 방안으로 제시했다. 궁극적 리더십이란 궁극적으로 하나의 목적에 귀결되는 리더십을 의미한다. 누가, 언제, 어디서 리더가 되느냐에 관계없이 리더십의 궁극의 목적은 언제고 명확하다. 좁게는 한 개인의 멘토(Mentor)로부터 단체나 기관, 넓게는 국가, 세계 공동체의 리더에 이르기까지 리더는 공동체로부터 위임받은 리더십을 통해, 하나님 안에서 조화롭고 행복한 공동체를 이루는 것이다. 본 연구는 마태복음 22장 34절-40절을 주심으로 성경에서 추구하는 공동체의 행복을 위한 궁극적 리더십의 정신들을 예수님과 제자들의 예를 삼아 희생, 섬김, 용서, 신뢰, 정의를 구체적으로 제시했다. 진정한 리더는 사람들을 위해 희생하며, 섬기며, 용서하며, 신뢰하며 또한 정의로운 자가 되고자 노력하는 한편, 공동체의 행복을 위해 끊임없이 선한 노력을 해야 한다. 이렇게 리더가 선한 리더십을 쌓아가다 보면, 언젠가 대한민국은 선한 리더십, 공동체의 행복을 위한 궁극적 리더십이 넘치는 대한민국이 될 것이다.

Leader is a person who makes transformation. Leader is one who makes changes and gives influences between good and evil. This is done through their given leadership within their own circumstances and environment. There are two different types of leaders that exist in this world, an altruistic one and a self-centered one. In regular times it’s hard to discriminate which one is which. But when it comes to circumstances it surly turns up as easy as a farmer who sorts out dead woods amongst the grain. On Dec. 12 1997, Wall Street Journal of United States mentioned that “The crisis of Korea’s economy started with the absence of leadership. Currently Korea’s leadership is exhausted more than american dollars” From then on, through voluntary efforts of the nation itself, Korea achieved the title ‘The fastest country to economically recover.’ We can see this through the GNI of Korea in the year 2013 being 26,205 dollars. But Even though Korea’s economy was recovered from its crisis, with the continuous absence of leaders and without any changes of the leaders, it could cause second or third IMF. If so, let’s see how much leadership of Korea has changed since that time. Unfortunately, through the accident of MV Sewol, Korea is in sadness and sorrow through spring, summer, and till no time limit. But the main reason of this sadness and despair is not only because of the accident itself but because of the incompetence of the leaders and their leadership. Which clearly solved nothing. The MV Sewol accident is also one of the misfortunes that was caused by the absence of leadership. What could be the problem? Where did this problem arouse from? How can we solve the problem of the absence of leadership within Korea? Through Matthew 22:39-40, present thesis is a suggestion for the ultimate leadership. Ultimate leadership means, a leadership which is ultimately concluded only by one single purpose. The goal of Ultimate Leadership is always clear-cut. It does not depend or rely on who, when, and where the leader was stood. The ultimate goal of leadership is demonstrated by the leader within different parts or groups of people and organizations. In small size, one by its own to organizations and groups. In large size, national or a global organization. This ultimate goal of leadership is the ultimate happiness. Which means the goal is to influence those to form a beautiful happiness within God. I also propose the elements of the ultimate leadership through Jesus and His disciples: sacrifice, service, forgiveness, trust, and justice. “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” that a good leader should sacrifice, serve, forgive, and trust people. And not only that, a good leader should do one’s best to become a righteous man and build up good leadership. I hope this article can help to build up ultimate leadership of Korea someday.
