A Study on the Color Culture Analysis of 2008 Beijing Olympic Main Stadium and National Aquatics Center

This article mainly analyzed the color of Beijing Olympic main stadium and National Aquatics Center and the relationship with the traditional color culture in China.
This study aims to analyze the color culture of Beijing Olympic main stadium and National Aquatics Center through the color analysis of the two buildings and make peoples understand the Chinese color culture deeply. Firstly, this article studied the Chinese traditional color culture, and made color analysis of the Chinese classical architecture, analyzed on the colors of Olympic stadiums during the day and night, and made a comparative analysis with the colors they reflected the Chinese culture. The targets of investigation selected two most impressionable Olympic venues: Bird Nest and Water Cube. And the scope of the color analysis was limited in the exterior and interior surface color in day time and nightscape color. We collected materials and information about 2008 Beijing Olympic and Chinese traditional color culture and gathered images about investigation places, and analyzed the color in Munsell system through Photoshop and Munsell conversion.
The conclusion of this study can be summarized as follows: the color of main stadium and national aquatics center reflects the Chinese characteristics. The color of the two architectures is coordination, using high chrome and value of the red and yellow colors at night has the visual impact. When designing a building, color can play a regulating role, and should make it get into the geographical characteristics of the city and make itself blend into the residential culture.
