구문의 확장양상 고찰 — 은현구문, 소유자-대상 구문, 형용사 소유자-대상 구문을 중심으로 (A Study on the Expansion of Construction: Focusing on Fugitive Construction, ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ Construction, and Adjective ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ Construction)

초록

본고는 은현구문, 소유자-대상 구문, 형용사 소유자-대상 구문이 통사적 · 의미적 관련이 있음에 주목하고 구문문법을 적용하여 이들이 어떻게 연결되고, 어떤 점에서 다른지 논의하였다.
다수의 기존연구에서는 은현구문과 소유자-대상 구문을 구문내적 연결로 보고 있으나, 두 구문은 구문외적 연결 관계이다. 공시적 관점에서 은현구문과 소유자-대상 구문은 은유적 확장 연결이다. ‘나에게 오는 것은 이익’, ‘나에게서 떠나는 것은 손해’ 은유에 의해 두 구문은 은유적으로 연결되어 있다. 통시적 관점에서 은현구문과 소유자-대상 구문은 유추를 통해 서로 영향을 주고받으며 확장되었다. 어떤 동사의 한 구문에서의 사용은 다른 구문에서의 사용에도 영향을 미쳤다.
소유자-대상 구문과 형용사 소유자-대상 구문은 구문내적 연결 관계이다. 그런데 두 구문의 구문내적 연결은 기존에 알려진 것과는 다른 양상을 보인다. 기존에 알려진 구문내적 연결은 전형적 동사를 중심으로 확장된다. 하지만 소유자-대상 구문에서 형용사 소유자-대상 구문으로의 확장은 전형적 동사의 의미를 바탕으로 이루어진 것이 아니라, 술어가 하나의 필수논항을 가진다는 공통점에 의한 것이다.
은현구문, 소유자-대상 구문, 형용사 소유자-대상 구문은 주관성을 가진다. 이 중 은현구문의 주관성은 화자의 관점과 관련된 것이다. 은현구문은 현저성이 낮은 장소어를 전경화해서 주어의 위치로 승격함으로써, 사건의 참여자들 중 장소어에 대한 화자의 관점을 문장에 남기고 있다. 반면 소유자-대상 구문과 형용사 소유자-대상 구문의 주관성은 안타까움, 기쁨, 불만 등 화자의 정서에 대한 것이다.

영어초록

This paper focuses on the syntactic and semantic relationships between fugitive construction, ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction, and adjective ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction, and discusses how they are linked and how they differ by applying construction grammar. The contents discussed in the paper are summarized as follows.
Many previous studies have regarded fugitive construction and ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction as a internal link, but the two constructions are linked by a external link. From a synchronic perspective, fugitive construction and ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction are linked by metaphorical extension link. The two constructions are metaphorically linked by the metaphors, ‘Coming to me is a benefit’ and ‘Leaving me is a loss.’ From a diachronic perspective, fugitive construction and ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction were extended through mutual influence through analogy. The use of a verb in one construction affected its use in another construction.
‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction and adjective ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction are linked by a internal link. However, the internal link of the two constructions show a different aspect from what was previously known. The previously known internal links are expanded around typical verbs. However, the expansion from ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction to adjective ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction is not based on the meaning of the typical verb, but on the commonality that the predicate has one necessary argument.
Fugitive construction, ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction, and adjective ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction has the subjectivity. Among these, the subjectivity of fugitive construction is related to the speaker's perspective. Fugitive construction promotes the location word with low salience to the foreground and raises it to the position of the subject, thereby leaving the speaker's perspective on the location word among the participants of the event in the sentence. On the other hand, the subjectivity of ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction and adjective ‘possessor-subject possessee-object’ construction is related to the speaker's affect such as regret, joy, and dissatisfaction.
