老子의 自然主義敎育觀硏究 (A Study on the Viewpoint of Naturalism Education Revealed in Laozi)

초록

본 연구는 노자 사상의 핵심 개념인 자연을 교육학에 도입하여 재해석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 자연을 중점적으로 탐구한 이유는 중국사상사에 있어서 자연에 대한 명확한 개념 정의와 이에 대한 현대적 해석 및 비판적 논의가 부족하였기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 노자의 자연에서 자연주의를 도출할 수 있음을 증명하여 노자 사상을 자연주의로 풀이하고, 이것을 다시 교육학적으로 해석하여 노자의 자연주의를 통해 현대 교육 문제를 해결하고자 하였다.
이와 같은 연구 목적을 실현하기 위하여, 자연의 의미를 노자 사상의 주요 개념인 도(道), 덕(德), 무위(無爲) 관련하여 제시하고, 자연주의라는 용어를 도출하였다. 즉 ‘자연(自然)’은 만물이 도달해야 할 경지이며 이 경지에서 이상적인 행위가 무위(無爲)이므로, 개체는 이상적인 상태인 자연(自然)에 도달하기 위해서 내재된 덕(德)을 실현하여 도(道)와 일치하고 무위(無爲)를 행해야 한다. 이러한 자연 개념에서 도출된 자연주의는 인간에게 최상의 상태인 자연을 회복하고 실현하여 전체의 도(道)와 일치하는 것을 강조하는 용어이다.
다음으로 자연주의의 개념을 교육에 도입하여 교육의 본질과 지향점을 제시하였다. 자연주의에서 교육의 본질은 개체가 인간다운 삶을 깨닫고 실현을 돕는 과정으로 ‘배우지 않는 배움(學不學)’의 과정이다. 따라서 자연주의 교육관은 개체적 자아(一)의 인격 실현과 전체적 우주관(全)의 형성하여 전일(全一)적 도(道)로의 회귀하고, ‘스스로 그러함(自然)’의 실현하는 것을 돕는 것을 지향해야 한다.
요컨대 본 연구는 노자의 자연주의를 교육학적으로 재해석하여 현재의 교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 노자의 자연에서 자연주의를 도출하여 현재의 교육의 본질과 지향점을 제시하였다.

영어초록

This thesis is aimed at introducing and reinterpreting the nature(自然), the essential concept of Laozi(老子). The reason the stress is laid on the nature(自然) is that there has been no enough discussion of its vivid definition, modern interpretation, and critical debate. Especially this thesis tries to prove it’s possible to draw the naturalism from the nature(自然) of Laozi, then explain the idea of Laozifrom the viewpoint of the naturalism and interpret it educationally. This is for the purpose of solving the modern educational problems through the naturalism of Laozi.
For this purpose, the meaning of the nature(自然) will be given with respect to the main concepts of Laozi, the Tao(道), the Virtue(德), and Wuwei(無爲), and the term of naturalism will be drawn. That is, the nature(自然) is the state that all things have to attain, and the ideal act at that state is Wuwei(無爲). Therefore, an individual, to get to the ideal state of the nature(自然), has to be harmonized with the Tao(道) by realizing the indwelling Virtue(德), then to act Wuwei(無爲). The naturalism drawn from this notion of the nature(自然) is a term to emphasize to agree with the Tao(道) as a whole by realizing the nature(自然), our ultimate state, which is different from the Western concept of naturalism.
Next, it will be shown the essence, purpose, and content of education, by naturalism being introduced to education. That is, the education of naturalism is the process of ‘studying not to study(學不學),’ one that helps an individual to understand the human life and realize it. The directional points of this educational viewpoint of naturalism can be said to be the character realization of an individual self (an individual, 一) and the formation of the viewpoint of the universe as a whole (the whole, 全). These two directional points can ultimately be said the recurrence to the perfect(全一) Tao(道) and the realization of the self nature.
In short, this thesis will reinterpret the naturalism in Laozi from the standing point of education. It is not easy to practicalize the educational position of the naturalism in Laozi. However, by identifying the essence of education again through it, we can demonstrate the right direction toward the current education, and expect the change through it to make us happier in the long run.
