공개공지 디자인을 위한 기초연구 - 흡연자 · 비흡연자 이용 및 행태 관찰을 중심으로 - (Basic study design for the public open space - Focused on use and behavioral observation of smokers and non-smokers -)

초록

도시민에게 좀 더 쾌적한 환경을 제공하고자 하는 공개공지의 흡연공간으로의 사용이라는 이론적인 배경과 사회적 이슈를 토대로 도심 속 공공공간인 공개공지에 대해 흡연자의 이용실태를 알아보고, 이를 위하여 흡연자와 비흡연자로 구분지어 그들의 행태를 관찰 조사·분석하여 보다 쾌적하고 실용적인 공개공지 디자인을 위한 기초적 자료를 제공하는데 목적을 가지고 있다. 연구 결과, 대상 3개소의 공개공지 모두, 절반이상의 이용자가 흡연을 행태를 보이고 있었고, 홀로 행위를 하는 이용자들은 흡연과 동시에 휴대폰으로 정보 확인 및 통화 등의 행위를 동시에 행하였고, 한 흡연 시 구석진 곳이나 휴지통, 가로수 또는 식재가 되어 있는 공간을 주로 이용하고 있는 것이 관찰되었다. 흡연을 하지 않는 이용자들의 경우, 대부분 지나가는 통행의 목적으로 이용하거나 잠시 앉아 누군가를 기다리는 목적으로 공간을 이용하고 있었는데, 이러한 행위가 이루어질 시에는 흡연자들을 피하여 동선을 이동하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 통해 공간분할과 시설물의 배치 및 종류, 공개공지 안의 흡연 공간 부족이라는 문제점이 도출되었다. 분석 결과를 통해 도출된 문제점에 대한 해결하기 위해서는 흡연자와 비흡연자 모두를 고려한 적절한 방안이 필요할 것이다. 후속 연구에서는 본 연구 결과를 토대로 좀 더 다양한 지역을 대상으로 보다 폭넓은 분석을 통하여 이러한 한계점을 보완하고 공개공지의 심미성과 이용자의 행태를 동시에 만족시킬 수 있는 공개공지의 디자인이 좀 더 자세한 대안으로 제시되어야 할 것으로 사료되어진다.

영어초록

Based on the theoretical background called the use of the open space as smoking space and social issue that are willing to provide the urban citizens with more comfortable environment, this study aims to provide the basic data about construction of smoking space at the open space by analyzing the behavior of the users who use the place regarding the open space that is the public space in the city and investigating the proper plan against that. As the result, more than half the patrons were shown smoking behaviour, it was observed that the users who performed the behavior alone did the behaviors such as checking the information with their mobile phones and calling, etc. together with smoking simultaneously at all three target places of the open space and the users who performed the behavior in group did the behavior such as talking or drinking coffee at the same time and mainly use the space where it is isolated or the wastebasket is located or street trees are planted when they smoke. In case of the users who don't smoke, they mostly used the space for the purpose of passing or waiting for some one sitting for a while, however, it could be observed that they moved along the traffic line avoiding the smokers when they did such behaviors. Through such study results, the problems such as space division, placement and kinds of facilities and insufficient smoking space in the open space were withdrawn and the construction of smoking space was suggested as the solution for the problems. Analysis of the results, in order to resolve the issues that come up for smokers and non-smokers alike, it will be necessary for appropriate measures. A follow-up study, based on the results of this study, a more extensive analysis than to target various areas through these critical points and open the user's behavior at the same time, the aesthetic and the bulletin on public notice that can satisfy the design should be presented more detailed alternatives to animal feed.
