蔡彭胤과 蔡濟恭의 문학적 계승에 관한 일 고찰 (A Study on the Literary Succession of Chae Paengyun and Chae Jegong)

초록

채제공의 근기 남인 시맥 논의는 다양한 의문이 있지만, 채제공의 정치적 위상과 그의 명망을 바탕으로 조선 후기 문단에 폭넓게 수용되었다. 하지만 그의 시맥 논의를 그대로 받아들이기는 쉽지 않다. 특히 그의 시맥 논의에서 드러나는 가문의 문학 전통과 위상에 대한 자부심은 오히려 그의 시맥 논의를 의심하게 한다. 따라서 채제공 시맥 논의의 진실성을 살펴보기 위해서는 먼저 그의 시맥 논의에서 엿보이는 가문의 문학 경향 계승의 사실성을 검토해 보아야 하고 이를 위해서는 가장 먼저 채팽윤과 채제공의 문학적 계승에 주목해야 한다.
채팽윤과 채제공의 문학 경향을 살펴보면 채팽윤은 문학 작품의 창작에서 기상을 중시했고, 천부적인 자질에 노력을 더해 시와 문장 모두에 뛰어났으며, 그의 시는 여러 형식을 모두 갖추었고, 장편시에 뛰어났다는 평가를 받았다. 채제공은 문장보다 시가 뛰어났으며 그의 시는 나라를 빛낼 뛰어난 솜씨라는 평가를 받을 정도로 한 시기 근기 남인 문단을 대표하는 문인이었는데, 채팽윤과 같이 시에서 기상을 중시하였다.
이와 같은 평가를 시를 통해 직접 살펴보면 당풍 중심의 창작 경향과 송풍에 대한 관심 그리고 장편과 고시의 창작에서 기상을 중시했을 가능성에서 두 사람의 시는 공통된 모습을 보인다. 그러나 이런 모습을 근거로 이들 사이의 문학적 계승을 단정하기는 쉽지 않다. 그것은 이런 문학 경향이 조선 후기 근기 남인 문인들의 보편적인 경향이라고 알려져 있기 때문이다. 따라서 이들의 문학적 계승에 대해 논하기 위해서는 앞으로 더욱 깊이 있는 검토가 있어야 한다.

영어초록

Although there are various questions about the Chae Jegong's discussion of the flow of the poem of the metropolitan namin faction, it was widely accepted in the literary world of the late Joseon Dynasty based on his political status and his reputation. However, it is not easy to accept his discussion of the flow of the poem as it is. In particular, his pride in the family's literary tradition and status, as confirmed in his discussion of the flow of the poem, rather makes him doubt his discussion of the flow of the poem. To confirm the truthfulness of Chae Jegong's discussion of the poem, it is necessary to examine the succession of the family's literary trends confirmed in his flow of the poem, and to do this, one should first pay attention to the literary succession of Chae Paengyun and Chae Jegong.
Looking at the literary trends of Chae Paengyun and Chae Jegong, Chae Paengyun valued spirit in the creation of literary works, excelled in both poetry and sentences by adding natural qualities and efforts, and his poems were equipped with all forms of poetry and were praised for excelling in long poems. Chae Jegong was a writer who represented the metropolis namin faction literary world of the period, to the extent that his poems were superior to sentences and were considered excellent skills to shine the country, and like Chae Paengyun, spirit was emphasized in poetry.
Looking directly at this evaluation through poetry, the two people's poems show a common appearance in the trend of poetry creation centered on the Tang Dynasty format, interest in poetry in the Song Dynasty format, and the possibility in that they emphasized spirit in the creation of the long poems and the ancient style poems. However, it is not easy to determine the literary succession between them based on this appearance. This is because this literary trend is known to be a universal trend among the metropolitan namin faction writers in the late Joseon Dynasty. Therefore, in order to discuss their literary succession, a more in-depth review is required in the future.
