감성철학으로서 양명학에 대한 일고찰 - 이탁오 사상을 중심으로 - (A Study of Yangmingxue as a Philosophy of Emotion - Focused on the of Li Zhuowu's thought -)

초록

현대사회는 논리적, 이성적 사고능력이 중시되는 정보화시대를 지나 점차 감성적 감각능력이 중시되는 새로운 시대로 전환되는 시점이라 할 수 있다. 하지만 감성 중심의 사회에서도 이성의 중요성이 여전히 유효하며, 이성과 감성 간의 조화롭고 균형 잡힌 발달을이루는 것이 중요할 것이다. 따라서 이 논고에서는 동아시아의 전통철학인 양명학, 좁게는 양명학 좌파의 사상에 관하여 이를 감성철학으로 인식하고, 중국 명대 말기에 활약한양명학 좌파의 인물 이탁오(1527~1602)의 사상에 관하여 감성이라는 코드로 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 그리고 이러한 논의과정을 통해 이탁오의 사상도 포함하여 16, 17세기 무렵의 신유학 사상의 전개 양상이 완전히 새로운 사상사적 전환 국면에 직면해 있었다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 그것은 명대 말기 양명학 좌파로 대변되는 일련의 감성 중심 사상운동으로서 그 주요한 특징이 주자학의 이성주의적 사고에 대한 비판과 반성 및 해체의과정이 진행되었다는 점, 더불어 새롭게 양명학에 바탕을 둔 욕망 긍정의 감성주의적 사고로 전환되었다는 점이다. 이성적 사고로 제어할 수 없는 인간 본연의 자연적 욕망과 감성이 정주학 탄생 500여 년만에 본격적으로 꿈틀대기 시작한 것이다. 이 논고에서의 주요 논의 대상인 이탁오는 정주학적 이성이 지배하던 사회에서 양명학 좌파의 인물들과마찬가지로 인간의 욕망과 감성에 대한 새로운 자각을 하게 되고, 부정적으로 유학사에서 낙인찍힌 욕망의 잔재들을 끄집어낸다. 그 가운데 욕망하는 주체로서 개체 혹은 사사로움(私)의 발견을 시작으로 감성적 인욕에 대한 적극적 긍정을 강조한다. 또한 개체의자각을 일으키는 원동력으로서 어린아이의 마음, 즉 순수한 동심(童心)을 자기철학의 전면에 내세웠던 것이다.

영어초록

The modern society is at a time of the conversion from the age of informatization in which importance is attached to logical and rational thinking abilities gradually to a new age in which importance is attached to emotional and sensory abilities. However, in the emotion-oriented society, the importance of reason is still valid, and it would be important to make a harmonious and balanced progress between reason and emotion. Thus, this study would discuss the ideas of Li Zhuowu (1527-1602), a left-wing figure of Yangmingxue, who was active at the end of the Ming period of China with the code of emotion, regarding the East Asian traditional philosophy, Yangmingxue, or narrowly, the ideas of the left wing of Yangmingxue as a philosophy of emotion. In addition, through this process of discussion, it could be found that the phase of development of Neo-Confucianist ideas around during the 16th and 17th century, including Li Zhuowu’s thoughts, faced a situation of turning into a completely new history of ideology. It was a series of emotion centered ideological movement, represented by the left wing of Yangmingxue, at the end of the Ming period, and its main characteristics were the processes of criticism, reflection, and dissolution of the rational thought of Zhuzixue, and to a thought of emotionalism affirming desires, based on Yangmingxue, newly. Natural desires and emotions of humans that cannot control with a rational thought began to wriggle in earnest in about 500 years. After the birth of Chengzhuxus. Li Zhuowu, the main subject of discussion in this study came to awaken human desires and emotions newly like figures on the left wing of Yangmingxue in the society ruled by reason of Chengzhuxue and brought the remnants of desires, branded negatively in the history of Confucianism. Especially, starting with the discovery of an object or privateness as a desiring subject, he emphasized active affirmation of emotional insult. In addition, as a driving force that causes the awakening of the object, he brought a young child’s mind, that is, the pure innocence of childhood to the forefront of his own philosophy.society ruled by reason of Chengzhuxue and brought the remnants of desires, branded negatively in the history of Confucianism.
