일 대학생들의 인터넷 중독실태와 도박에 대한 의식 조사 (A Study of Internet Addiction and Awareness of Gambling among University Students)

초록

Purpose: The purposes of this study were to investigate the level of addiction to internet, to explore the awareness
of gambling, and to examine the relation between the internet addiction and the gambling attitudes.
Methods: Data were collected from 261 university students in J city in Korea, from September 10 to September
21, 2007. The collected data were analyzed statistically by using frequency, percentage, mean, x2-test, and
one-way ANOVA. Results: The mean scores of internet addiction were 4.58±4.26 (range 0~25). First, 0.4% of the
subjects were revealed as addicted and 3.8% suspected, 9.6% were revealed as borderline group. Second, there
were differences in the level of internet addiction by gender, drinking pattern, and average time of use. Third,
there were significant differences in awareness of gambling by gender, specialty, grade, and house tenure.
Fourth, there were no significant differences statistically between the level of internet addiction and the awareness
of gambling. Gambling attitudes were most critical in group of internet normal user. Conclusion: In summary,
the results of this study showed that the level of internet addiction was relatively lower than the results of the previous
reports. Based on the outcomes of this study, it is suggested to develop an intervention program that increase
awareness of pathological gambling.
