법신여래 일원상(法身如來一圓相) (The Truth of One Great Circle as Dharmakaya-tathagata)

초록

본 논문은 원불교의『대종경』에 나타난 법신여래와 서가모니불과의관계를 개창주 소태산의 소견을 중심으로 확장 해석해 본 내용이다. 본래 법신여래에 대해서는『원불교교전』전반에 걸쳐서 그 용어가 단 한번 나타난데 불과하다. 그러나 그 내용은 원불교 신앙과 수행의 궁극근원인 일원상과 직결되는 것이므로 광대한 이론적 근거를 뒷바침하는것이고, 원불교의 신앙 수행을 이해하는 데 아주 중요한 개념이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이에 대한 충분한 연구가 교학계에 제출되지 않은 것으로 보이기 때문에 이 문제를 중심으로 접근한 것이다.
본 논문은 해석적으로 상당한 독창성과 창의적 개발적 요소를 포함하고 있어서 전통적 해석학과 다른 부분도 어느 정도 포함되었다고 본다. 원래 해석학은 종교 발전사에서 끊임없이 새로워지고, 확장되기 때문에 관점의 다양성을 피할 도리는 없다. 다만 어떤 것이 더 보편화 되고, 의미 있는 것이 될 것이냐 하는 문제가 중요하다. 소태산이 주창한시대화, 생활화, 대중화의 문제와 함께 할 것이기 때문에, 교학의 전개는 상황성의 문제를 함께 바라보면서 응용적으로 풀어나가야 할 것이다.
서론에서도 언급했듯이 본고는 앞서 발표한 논문의 보완적 후속 논문의 성격도 가지고 있고, 거기에 언급하지 못했던 새로운 이론도 들어있다. 본고의 서술은 목차에 밝힌 바와 같이, 첫째 법신여래 일원상의표현 의미와 대표적 진리 강령, 둘째 법신여래 일원상진리와 현상과의관계, 셋째 법신여래 일원상과 사은·처처불과의 관계, 넷째 처처불상·사사불공의 의미 정리 등의 순으로 전개해 나간다. 내용 속에 새롭게 주해한 부분이 많으므로 여기서 그 내용을 다 지적하기는 어려우나,그 내용을 직접 읽어 음미해봄으로써 필자가 고심하는 내용들이 전달되리라 믿는다. 특히‘진리여래’,‘ 스승여래’,‘ 함장여래’의 분류는 물론, 마지막“처처불상·사사불공의 최종적 의미”등은 새로운 해석학적 보완이 될 것으로 믿는다. 그 뿐 아니라 본고는 필자의 선행 논문 중의 하나인「원불교의 원상징」의 특징에 대한 주석적 보완을 많이 넓혔다.

영어초록

The above article is to explain in larger scale the Dharmakaya-tathagata in relation to the Sakyamuni Buddha mostly on the basis of the Scriptures of Taejongkyung and the Canonical Text. Almost the above two scriptures reflect fully the Founder Master’s thoughts because the former is the Memoirs compiled by the then splendid disciples of him , and the latter was written by the Founder Master himself. And the Dharma Words by the late Prime Master Jungsan are also referred in this paper.
Originally the expression of the word Dharmakaya-tathagata appeard only one time in the scripture of TaejongKyung.
However, we can easily understand in The Founder Master’s words that the real implication of the Dharmakaya-tathagata is not different from the Il-Won-Sang, Dharmakaya Buddha which is officially the ultimate standard and model of Won-Buddhist faith and practice.
In spite of the fact, I know the different expressions about the same reality in religion could provide fresh feelings and influences on faith, practice, and civilization. For example, only the titles of honor such as the Buddha and the Tathagata have been most popular and beloved among others in Buddhist history.
Accordingly, I will make clear here about the new implication of Il-Won-Sang, the Dharmakaya Buddha by way of centering upon the Dharmakaya-tathagata, Unfortunately these kinds of study in this field about the Founder Master were not much before.
As this paper involves comparatively some original, creative, and developing approaches, it could expect some of conflicting parts contrary to the traditional approaches. From the first, hermineutics has been a destiny not to avoid the diversity of viewpoints in interpretation through the history of development of religions. The interpretations should ceaselessly be refreshed,expanded, universalized, and changed, except eternally important things.
What it matters is which are universal significance and meaningful importance. As the Founder Master stressed the right applification of Buddhism to the changing situations, right practacal application in everyday life, and right universalization, I endeavored to express and apply the idea of the Founder Master Sotaesan to my interpretation of Dharmakaya-tathagata.
My contents are as follows.
1. The implication of the expression of Dharmakaya-tathagata and it’s main principles.
2. The Dharmakaya-tathagata, ll-Wonsang Truth and it’s relationship with world phenomena.
3. The Dharmakaya-tathagata and it’s relationship with 4 Grace and everywhere-Buddha.
4. Final arrangement of everywhere-Buddha and everytime-Buddha offering.
In this paper, I classified the Dharmakaya-tathagata into three categories,namely A. The Truth-Dharmakaya-tathagata B. The Teacher-Dharmakaya-tathagata C. The Latent(potential)-Dharmakaya-tathagata And the above number 4. of the final arrangement will, I believe, be an important and renewed one.
