초록

조명희와 강태수의 재소 고려인 디아스포라 문학을 쟁점적으로 살펴보았다. 근대 세계체제­내­국가로 수렴되지 않는, 그리하여 자본주의적 근대와 ‘또 다른 근대’에 대한 문학적 상상력의 힘을 성찰하도록 한다는 점에서, 중앙아시아로의 고려인 강제이주 전과 이후 조명희와 고려인 문학이 소련식 사회주의 근대에 대한 문학적 대응이 함의한 역사적 실천은 주목할 만하다. 무엇보다 스탈린 체제를 공고히 하기 위한 대숙청 및 굴락(GULAG)이 수행하는 강제 수용소의 노동력 착취에 따른 인간성 말살과 폭력적 억압을 낳은 반사회주의적 근대는 마르크스­레닌의 사회주의적 근대성을 실현하는 도정에서의 세계혁명에 역행하는 것임을 강태수의 증언서사는 소수 민족의 디아스포라의 시선에서 보여준다.
‘일제 식민주의-제2차 세계대전-한국전쟁’에 이르는 세계사 전개에서 스탈린 체제가 수행한 역사의 하중을 염두에 둘 때, 이 시기의 재소 고려인은 소련을 구성하는 소수 민족으로서 일본 제국의 자본주의 파쇼적 억압으로부터 해방을 쟁취하여 조국의 독립 국가를 이룩해야 할 디아스포라로서 세계혁명의 과제가 간절했다. 따라서 스탈린 체제에서 재소 고려인 디아스포라 문학이 함의한 반식민주의･반제국주의 민족해방 투쟁의 다층적 역동성을 주목해야 한다. 이것은 종래 한국문학의 총체적 모습을 복원하기 위해 산개한 문학적 자원, 특히 코리안 디아스포라 문학을 ‘민족문학’이란 논쟁적･규범적 개념으로 호명하여 논의함으로써 근대 내셔널리즘이 근원적으로 동반할 수밖에 없는 (식민주의 해방을 통한 독립 국가 세우기의 강한 정치적 정동이 서구의 내셔널리즘에 기반하고 있음을 고려할 때) 국가주의와 국민주의 함정을 비판적으로 응시하도록 한다. 뿐만 아니라 이것은 근대 세계체제­내­국가로 수렴되지 않는 ‘또 다른 근대’에 대한 문학적 상상력의 힘을 성찰하도록 한다. 아울러 이것은 스탈린 체제와 현실 사회주의에서 억압된 해방과 스러진 혁명에 대한 래디컬한 비판적 성찰을 통해 문학적 차원에서 세계와 존재에 대한 혁명의 문제의식을 쉼 없이 벼리도록 한다.
한국문학이 1990년대 이후 급격히 소진된 문학운동으로서 담론적 실천의 자기갱신은 속류사회주의적 근대 추구를 단호히 부정･경계하면서 그동안 역사의 뒤안길로 내팽개쳤던 유럽 중심주의의 사회주의적 근대를 탈구축할 뿐만 아니라 그 래디컬한 비판적 성찰 과정에서 새롭게 발견하고 조우해야 할 ‘보다 높은’ 차원의 사회주의적 근대와 연접하는 문학적 상상력의 담대한 개진과 실현이 아닐까. 언제까지 근대 자본주의 세계체제­내­국가의 문학에서 인정투쟁을 벌여야 하는 (동)아시아의 개별 국민문학으로서 자족할 수만은 없지 않는가. 조명희와 강태수의 고려인 디아스포라 문학은 ‘문학의 혁명’ 또는 ‘혁명의 문학’을 향한 상상력의 힘을 좀처럼 가시지 않게 한다.

영어초록

This study looked at the Korean diaspora literature Cho Myeong-hee and Kang Tae-soo. Given that it allows us to reflect on the power of literary imagination about capitalist modernity and “another modernity” without converging to a­state within the modern world system, it is noteworthy that Cho Myeong-hee and Korean diaspora literature had implications for the literary response to the Soviet-style socialist modernity before and after Korean’s forced migration to Central Asia. Above all, Kang's testimony shows that the antisocialist modernity, which resulted in the extinction of humanity and violent oppression caused by the exploitation of labor forces in concentration camps conducted by the Great Terror and GULAG to solidify the Stalinist regime, is against the global revolution in the path of realizing the socialist modernity of Lenin from the perspective of the diaspora of ethnic minorities.
Considering the historical load carried out by the Stalinist regime in the development of world history from “Japanese colonialism to World War II to the Korean War,” the task of the global revolution was desperately needed as a diaspora that had to win liberation from the capitalist oppression of the Japanese Empire as a minority that made up the Soviet Union and achieve an independent state of the country. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the multilayered dynamics of the anticolonial and antiimperialist national liberation struggle that the diaspora literature implied under the Stalinist regime. By discussing the literary resources that were scattered to restore the overall appearance of Korean literature, especially Korean diaspora literature, with the controversial and normative concept of “national literature,” it is necessary to critically examine the pitfalls of nationalism and nationalism, which are bound to accompany modern nationalism (given that the strong political impact of establishing an independent state through the liberation of colonialism is based on Western nationalism). In addition, this allows us to reflect on the power of literary imagination about “another modernity” that does not converge to a state within the modern world system. In addition, through a radical critical reflection on the liberation and collapse revolution suppressed in Stalin's system and real socialism, this constantly seeks to recognize the problem of the revolution about the world and existence at the literary level.
As Korean literature is a literary movement that has been rapidly exhausted since the 1990s, selfrenewal of discourse practice is a bold reform and realization of literary imagination that not only dismantles the socialist modernity of Europeancentrism, which has been abandoned in the wake of history while firmly denying and wary of the pursuit of the socialist modernity. It is not only a dramatic and critical process of reflection that needs to be discovered but also a new “higher” level of socialist modernity that should be connected to it. As an individual national literature of (East) Asia, which has to fight for recognition in the literature of countries within the modern capitalist world system, we cannot be complacent. The Korean diaspora literature of Cho Myeong-hee and Kang Tae-soo hardly wears off the power of imagination toward “Literature Revolution” or “Literature of Revolution.”
