본 논문의 목적은 사이버네틱스 관점을 통해 심신론을 중심으로 동무 이제마의 사상(四象)철학을 고찰하는 데 있다. 그리고 그 과정에서 사상(四象)체질을 원방각(圓方角)의 도형으로, 사상철학을 새로운 태극기로 도상화(圖像化)하고자 한다.
동무는 인간의 몸과 마음을 우주와 자연, 사회와의 상호관계 속에서 파악하고 인간을 성명(性命)의 존재로 규명하였다. 그의 철학은 다음과 같이 사이버네틱스의 이론과 맞닿아 있다.
첫째, 사이버네틱스에서와 같이 몸과 마음의 구조를 일관되게 우주, 사회와의 동형성 속에서 파악한다. 동무는 우주와 사회 그리고 인간의 몸과 마음을 사원구조 속에서 파악하였다. 심신사물, 천인성명은 인간과 자연 그리고 사회를 말하는데, 이들은 모두 사원구조로 되어 있다.
둘째, 인간의 마음은 신체와 독립된 실체가 아니라, 몸의 구조에 속한 것이다. 이목비구의 감관기관에 의해 대동한 자연 세계를 인식하지만, 이목비구의 활동성에 따라 외부 세계에 대한 정보를 각각 다르게 저장한다. 이에 따라 폐비간신의 대소가 결정되고 그것에 의해 다시 타자와의 소통 과정에서 각립한 세상과 대면하게 된다. 이목비구와 폐비간신은 천기와 인사라는 순환론적인 구조 안에서 나의 성명(性命)을 규정한다. 동시에 성명은 ‘시스템의 내적 논리에 의해 재귀적으로 자기 생산(autopoiesis)을 하는 구성주의적 세계’이다.
셋째, 인간의 심과 신은 피드백적 순환구조 속에서 목적을 달성하는 운동을 진행한다. 동무에 의하면, 인간은 향상하기 위해 태어났고, 살아가면서 실천해야 할 성(性)과 명(命)이 있다. 다시 말하면 인간의 삶은 ‘목적적 과정’ 속에 있는 것이다. 인간은 도덕적으로 더 완성된 존재가 되고자 하는 사명을 지닌다. 이러한 몸과 마음의 목적을 위해 피드백이 작동하고, 이 피드백에 의해 몸과 마음의 건강이 유지된다.
The purpose of this paper is to examine Lee Je-Sasang ma's Constitutional medicine philosophy, with a focus on mind and body theory from the perspective of cybernetics. In the process, Sasang Constitutional medicine is meant to be conveyed in Wonbanggak(圓方角, circle-square-triangle) iconograhpy, and the philosophy is to be represented through the iconography of a new Taegeukgi(太極旗, Korean national flag).
Lee Je-ma recognized the human body and mind as the existence of Seung Myeong(性命, Nature and Inherent mission) in the interplay between the universe, nature, and society. As follows, his thought is consistent with Cybernetics theory.
For starters, like in cybernetics, the structure of the body and mind is consistently comprehended in ‘isomorphism’ with the cosmos and society. Lee Je-ma understood the cosmos, society, and the human body and mind in the structure of four dimensions. ‘Sim(心, mind), Sin(身, body), Sa(事, event), Mul(物, thing)’ and ‘Chen(天, heaven), In(人, human), Seong(性, nature), Myeong(命, mission) are all represented by humans, societies, and cosmos.
Second, the human mind is not a separate entity from the body, but rather a component of the body's composition. Although the sensory organs of the ‘Yi(耳, ears), Mok(目, eyes), Bee(鼻, nose), Gu(口, mouth) identify the universal natural world, information about the world is stored differently depending on the activity of ‘Yi(耳, ears), Mok(目, eyes), Bee(鼻, nose), Gu(口, mouth). As a result, the large and tiny sizes of ‘Pye(肺, lung), Bee(脾, spleen), Gan(肝, liver), Sin(腎, kidney)’ are decided, and because of that, humans see a different world while interacting with others. Within the cyclical framework of ‘Cheongi(天機, the secret of heaven)’ and ‘Insa(人事, human issues), Seung Myeong(性命, Nature and Inherent mission) is defined by ‘Yi(耳, ears), Mok(目, eyes), Bee(鼻, nose), Gu(口, mouth), and ‘Pye(肺, lung), Bee(脾, spleen), Gan(肝, liver), Sin(腎, kidney)’. At the same time, Seung Myeong(性命) is ‘a constructivist world that recursively autopsies by the system's internal logic.’ Third, the human body and mind are maintained and created through a feedback loop. Lee Je-ma believes humans are created to improve and have Seung Myeong(性命) to complete in their life. In other words, human existence is in the midst of the 'purpose process.' Humans also have a mission to become more morally full beings. Feedback serves this role for the body and mind, and it maintains the health of the body and mind.
