坡州 惠陰院址 出土 靑磁에 대한 科學技術的 分析 考察 (A Scientific Study for Goryeo Celadon Excavated from Hyeumwon, Paju)

초록

파주 혜음원지는 고려시대 국립숙박기관으로 발굴 조사결과 다량의 청자가 출토되었고 기종, 시문방법, 문양 등의 양상으로 보아 고려 중기 청자의 특성을 보이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 혜음원지 출토 청자를 대상으로 도편을 선정하고 과학적 분석방법을 적용하여 청자의 물리화학적 특성과 제작기술에 대한 기초 자료를 제시하고자 한다. 선정된 도편은 양질로 태토가 치밀하고 회색을 띠며 유약은 대부분 비색계통이지만 도편에 따라 색조의 차이를 보여 비색, 담녹색, 녹갈색으로 구분된다. 분석결과 비색 도편은 색도 L*, a*, b*값이 53.36∼56.93, -6.18∼-3.75, 4.88∼9.91의 범위로 나타난다. 또한 흡수율과 기공률은 각각 1.5% 이하, 3% 이하로 비교적 자화가 잘 되어 치밀한 편이지만 이보다 높은 측정값을 갖는 도편도 확인되어 치밀도의 차이가 있는 것으로 생각된다. 태토와 유약의 주성분을 기초로 원료의 특성을 검토한 결과에서 혜음원지 청자는 기종 및 시문방법과 상관없이 유사성이 확인되므로 원료배합이 균일하였던 것으로 추정된다. 기종과 시문방법 그리고 색상에 따른 자화도의 차이 또한 확인되지 않지만 도편별로 번조정도에 따른 차이를 보인다. 자화가 덜 이루어진 태토는 미세한 기공의 분포도가 높고 형태가 부정형인 반면에 상대적으로 자화가 잘 이루어진 태토는 기공의 분포도가 낮고 형태도 원형으로 일정한 특성을 갖는다. 선정된 도편의 유약에서 분포정도의 차이는 있지만 잔존하는 입자와 기포를 확인할 수 있다. 이는 유약의 투명도를 반투명으로 조절하기 위하여 번조정도를 제어한 것으로 추정되며 혜음원지에 청자를 공급하였던 생산지의 제작기술이 상당한 수준에 이르렀음을 보여주는 증거라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

Hyeumwon in Paju was the national accommodation facility in the Goryeo Dynasty. As a result of excavation, a number of celadon wares were excavated. According to the porcelain types, carving methods and patterns, they have the characteristics of the celadon in the middle of the Goryeo Period. The purpose of this study is to propose the basic data on the physicochemical characteristics and manufacturing technology of the celadon wares excavated from Hyeumwon by selecting the celadon shards from them and applying scientific analysis methods. The selected celadon shards have dense and gray-tinged body, and most of the glazes are the type of celadon green. However, the shades vary from celadon shards and they are divided into celadon green, light green and greenish brown. As a result, in relation to the celadon shards, the chromaticity value of L*, a* and b* were found within the scope of 53.36∼56.93, -6.18∼-3.75, 4.88∼9.91. In addition, the water absorption rate and porosity were less than 1.5% and 3%, respectively, they are relatively well vitrified and have a high density. However, the celadon shard with higher measured values than them has been found. Thus, it is considered that there are differences in density. This study examined the characteristics of the raw materials based on the major chemical compositions of the body and glaze. As a result, the celadon excavated from Hyeumwon has similarities regardless of the porcelain types and carving methods. Therefore, it is estimated that the combination of ingredients were equal. Although the differences of vitrification according to the porcelain types, carving methods and colors have not been confirmed, the each celadon shard shows differences depending on the extent of firing. The less vitrified body has a high distribution of tiny pore and is amorphous. Relatively, the well vitrified body has a low distribution of tiny pore and a definite round shape. Although there are distributional differences in the glaze of all celadon shards, it is possible to confirm the remaining particle and pore. It is estimated that the extent of firing was purposefully controlled in order to produce the celadon green. Furthermore, it can be considered as evidence that the manufacturing technology of the production site that provided the celadon to Hyeumwon had reached a fairly high level.
