윷놀이 가사 작품의 양상과 시대 인식 (Aspects of the Works and Historical Perception of Yutnori Gasa)

초록

본 연구는 윷놀이 가사 13편을 대상으로 작품 생성 배경과 양상, 시대 인식에 대해 살핀 것이다. 윷놀이 가사의 내용 속에는 흥겨운 전통 놀이 모습과 근·현대의 시대 상황 등이 담겨 있는 작품이다. 2장에서는 윷놀이 가사 작품의 생성 배경을 시대적 상황과 함께 살피면서 작품 제목과 내용 속에서 드러나는 ‘척사대회’에 주목하여 그 창작 시기를 추정하였다. 그 결과 1910년대 1편, 1930년대 4편. 1940년대 1편, 1950년대 2편, 1960년대 1편, 1970년대 3편 등으로 나타났다.
다음으로 윷놀이 가사 작품의 양상을 두 가지로 나누어 살폈다. 첫째는 향유 대상이 집 안 여성에서 집 안 남녀로 확장되었다는 것이다. 작품 내용 속에 등장하는 편장 정하기를 통해 성별 구별 없이 노소가 흥겹게 놀았다는 점을 확인하였고, 이러한 경험을 통해 작품을 향유하는 대상도 확장되었다. 둘째, 가족 관계를 소중히 여기는 마음이 드러난다. 참가한 사람에 대한 묘사와 많은 사건으로 함께 할 수 없는 사람들에 대한 애절한 심정을 표현한다.
마지막으로 작자의 시대 인식에 대해 알아보았다. 시대에 대한 비판적 시각이 드러난 시기는 1940-1960년대 작품이다. 1910, 1920년과 1970년대 작품에서는 화전가류 작품과 유사한 놀이 준비에 대한 광경과 즐거운 놀이 모습 묘사, 헤어지는 아쉬움 등을 표출하고 있어 놀이를 주제로 한 작품과 유사한 내용을 보인다.
근·현대에 창작된 윷놀이 가사가 이전의 가사 작품에 비해 눈에 띄는 내용적 변화는 없지만 흥겨운 놀이를 기록하고 집 안 사람들 모두가 향유자가 되는 작품에서 자신의 시각을 밝혔다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This paper puts an in-depth study on the background, aspects of the works, and historical perception of the Yutnori Gasa with a focus on thirteen selected pieces. These Yutnori Gasa represent creative works that depict lively traditional gameplay and contemporary historical situations. In Chapter 2, the research investigates the context of the creation of the Yutnori Gasa by analyzing the titles and content, paying special attention to the recurring theme of 'Cheoksa DaeHoe' (annual royal competition) in the Gasa. As a result, it was estimated that one piece was created in the 1910s, four pieces in the 1930s, one piece in the 1940s, two pieces in the 1950s, one piece in the 1960s, and three pieces in the 1970s.
Next, Aspects of the Works of Yutnori Gasa is divided into two aspects. First, the target audience expanded from women within the household to both men and women within the household. Through the process of determining the order of the sticks (pyeonjang) in the Gasa, it was confirmed that people of all ages joyfully played without any gender distinctions, expanding the experience to a wider audience. Second, the Gasa reflect a cherished family bond. Descriptions of the participants and the heartfelt emotions for those who couldn't join due to various circumstances are evident. Although there is no mention of "New women," it seems to be a deliberate omission to eliminate elements that could lead to criticism or conflicts within the songs, and instead, to focus on fostering friendship and camaraderie, which is the inherent purpose of Yutnori songs when enjoyed by both men and women together.
Lastly, the study explored the author's perception of the era. The period in which a critical view of the era is evident is the 1940s to 1960s. In the works from the 1910s, 1920s, and 1970s, they depict scenes of joyful gameplay, similar to the works of Hwajeon Garyu (literary genre of playful poetry), portraying the preparations for the game and the nostalgia of parting. These works show content resembling playful-themed pieces, aligning with scenes of pleasurable gameplay.
The Yutnori Gasa created in the modern and contemporary eras do not exhibit significant changes in content compared to the earlier works. However, their significance lies in the expression of the author's perspective within the works that record lively gameplay, allowing everyone in the household to become participants in the enjoyment.
