교육프로그램 실행자의 경험을 통해 본박물관 융복합교육의 함의: 초등학생과 가족 대상 프로그램 실행을 중심으로 (A Study of the Implications of Convergence Education in Museums through the Experience of Education Program Practitioners : Focuses on the implementation of programs for elementary school students and)

초록

본 연구는 박물관교육 실행자들이 융복합 교육을 어떻게 인식하고 있으며, 박물관에서 융복합교육이 어떠한 의미를 가지고 있는지를 논의하고자 하였다. 선행연구를 통해 교과과정과 OECD EDUCATION 2030 프로젝트에서 제시한 역량에서 융복합교육의 의미를 찾고, 융복합교육의 목표, 맥락, 방식을 박물관 환경을 고려하여 제시 하였다. 이렇게 도출된 박물관 융복합교육의 목표, 맥락, 방식에 따라 구성된 질문으로 박물관에서 융복합 교육의 특징과 의미를 2012년부터 현재까지 박물관교육을 실행해본 경험이 있는 학교교사 3인, 박물관교육담당자 8 인(교육학예사, 연구원, 강사 등)의 심층면담을 통해 찾아보았다.
박물관교육 실행자들의 융복합 교육에 대한 인식은 “잘 모르겠어요!: 융복합교육에 대한 개념 부족”으로 시작되 었다. 또한“박물관의 안과 밖: 실행자들의 인식차이”를 통해 박물관과 학교의 교육 대상자들을 인식하는 차이, 학교나 가족 구성원이 박물관 환경을 인식하는 범위가 박물관 교육담당자와의 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
마지막으로 연구 참여자들의 경험을 토대로 박물관에서 융복합교육의 개념을 정리하고자 하였다. “그래서 박물 관에서 융복합교육은?: 선택, 동선, 연결, 탈학문적”을 주제로 도출하고, 그동안 “융복합교육”이라는 정확한 개념을 모른 채, 유행처럼 사용한 것이 아닌가에 대한 반성으로 박물관교육에서 융복합교육은 ‘박물관 안과 밖의 연결’에서 찾아야 함을 논의하였다.
본 연구에서 찾은 박물관에서 융복합교육이 의미는 “박물관 안과 밖의 연결”이다. 우리는 박물관에서 ‘융복합교 육’을 4차산업혁명의 기계나 기술에 대한 부담으로 받아들일 것이 아니라, 변화하는 세상을 살아갈 미래 인재를 대하는 태도로 접근해야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서 제시한 박물관 융복합교육 프로그램 구성틀을 통해 융복합교육을 각 박물관의 성격에 맞게 적용하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 많은 교육 이슈에 따라 트랜드화 되기 쉬운 교육현 장에서 박물관교육의 본질을 고민하고, 박물관마다의 특성을 찾는데 활용되기를 바란다. 이번 연구는 박물관의 특성상 연구 참여자들의 경험차가 심해 심층면담 결과를 주제화 하는데 어려움이 있었다. 박물관 콘텐츠의 특성에 따른 융복합교육의 특징, 학교 교사가 생각하는 박물관에서의 융복합교육의 의미 등을 면밀하게 살피는 것은 후속연구로 남겨둔다.

영어초록

This study attempted to discuss how museum education practitioners perceive convergence education and what it means in museums. Based on the previous studies, the National curriculum, and the competency presented in the OECD Education 2030 Project, this study found out the meaning of convergence education. It also suggested the goal, context, and method of convergence education within a museum environment. The derived questionnaires from the suggestion applied to in-depts interviews for whom had implemented the museum education program from 2012 to present. For the interviews, three school teachers, eight museum education staff, including education curator, researcher and lecturer, and more participated.
Museum education practitioners' perceptions of convergence education began with "I do not know it well!: Lack of concept of convergence education." Also, the study indicates the differ- ence in how museums and schools perceive education targets. It also confirmed the difference among the museum education staff, schools, and the family groups in perceiving the museum environment. Lastly, the study tried to summarize the concept of convergence education in museums based on the participants' experiences. The resulting issue was, "So what is the conver- gence education in museums: selection, flow, connection, and post-academics." It also reflected that the practitioners might have used the term without comprehending the precise concept of convergent education in museums. Further discussion lead one can find the convergence educa-tion in museums in "the connection between the inside and outside of a museum." Convergence education in museums found in this study is "the connection between the inside and outside a museum." We should not accept convergence education in museums as a burden for machinery or technology in the Fourth Industrial Revolution but should approach with an attitude of treating the future talents, who will live in the changing world. It may be necessary to apply convergence education appropriately according to the characteristics of each museum through the framework of the museum convergence education program presented in this study.
Hopefully, this study can be worthwhile for contemplating the essence of museum education and finding the significance of each museum in the field, which tends to be susceptible to trends and issues. The challenge summarizing issues in findings from the in-depth interviews was due to the characteristics of museums and the discrepancy of the participants' experience. The follow-up studies can be careful examinations on the characteristics of convergent education based on museum contents, and schoolteachers’ perception of museum convergent education, and more.
