융복합 교양교육의 토대로서의 창의성 (Creativity as basis of the convergent and integrative studies in liberal education)

초록

오늘날 대학교양교육의 중요한 한 경향은 융복합 학문의 지향이라고 할 수 있다. 학문간의 융복합화 과정에서 핵심적으로 필요한 것이 창의적인 사고이다. 본 연구는 융복합 교양교육의 기초적인 토대로서의 창의성을 발현하기 위해 갖추어져야 할 조건과 글쓰기 수업의 시작 단계에서 발산적 창의성 훈련 방법들을 통해 문장을 도출해내는 방안을 소개하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다.
창의성을 발휘하기 위한 기본적인 전제 조건 중의 하나는 모든 것을 신선하게 받아들이는 생동감을 느낄 수 있고, 따뜻한 유년의 기억을 회복하여 동심으로 돌아가는 것이 중요하다. 창의성 발현의 또 다른 조건은 자기 자신에 대한 자긍심을 높이고 정서적으로 안정감을 되찾는 것이다. 창의성은 보수적이고 억압적인 환경에서보다 개방적이고 수용적인 환경을 조성할 때 훨씬 잘 발휘된다. 그런 점에서 교수와 학생들 사이에, 학생과 학생 사이에 공통감과 유대감을 조성할 필요가 있다. 조급하게 가시적인 결과를 요구하고 경쟁을 부추기는 강박적인 환경에서는 창의성이 잘 발현될 수 없다. 창의성을 제대로 발휘하도록 하기 위해서는 충분한 시간을 제공해주고 조성해주는 것이 필요하다. 그리고 수행할 과제의 난이도와 능력이 조화로운지 염두에 두고 뚜렷한 목표를 제시함으로써 집중하고 몰입할 수 있는 환경을 만들어주는 것이 바람직하다.
글쓰기는 서로 다른 언어들을 조합하는 과정에서 본질적으로 융복합적 사고의 토대가 되는 창의성을 발휘하도록 한다. 이에 우리는 글쓰기 수업 첫 단계에서 서로 무관한 단어들을 결합하여 간단한 문장들을 많이 만들어봄으로써 자신의 생각을 글로 표현하는데 좀더 익숙해질 수 있도록 도와주는 다섯 가지 창의적 사고 연습을 제시하였다. 주어진 시간 동안 제시된 단어들을 활용하여 많은 문장들을 만들어내는 유창성(연상적 사고) 발휘 연습, 하나의 단어로 여러 다른 의미의 문장들을 만들어내는 과정을 통해 사물을 다층적이고 종합적으로 바라보게 해주는 다각도 사고 연습, 주어진 단어들을 조합하여 이야기를 만들어내고, 또 이들 단어들을 재배열하고 재조합하여 새로운 이야기를 생성해내는 조합과 재조합 연습, 비현실적 상황을 가정한 뒤 결과를 예측하는 독창적 사고 연습, 우리가 살아오면서 받은 상처나 분노를 드러내거나 힘이 되는 만남이나 감격스럽고 감사한 사건, 행복한 기억들을 되살리는 자기 성찰적 질문과 답하기는 글쓰기를 활용한 문장 창작 예를 보여준다. 여기서 소개한 창의성 연습 방법들은 글쓰기 수업의 초기 단계에서 학생들이 자신의 문장을 편하게 끌어낼 수 있도록 발산적 창의성 연습들로 알려진 몇 가지 도구적인 방법들을 소개한 것으로 실제로 창의성의 모든 측면을 포괄하지 못하는 것이 사실이다. 창의성의 발현 조건과 창의성에 필요한 실제적인 방법들에 대한 계속적인 연구를 향후 우리의 연구 과제로 삼고자 한다.

영어초록

One of a significant trend of the contemporary academic education of liberal arts is the tendency of the convergent and integrative studies. What is essential in the convergent and integrative studies is creativity. The aim of this work is to reflect on the condition for the expression of creativity and the several examples of exercises to the realization of creativity.
One of the condition for the expression of creativity is to receive all things in an open attitude, to feel the vitality and to recover the innocence of childhood. To freely express creativity, we also must elevate the self-esteem and the emotional stability. Creativity is exercised in an atmosphere more open and receptive than in the oppressive. In this sense, it is necessary to establish the intimacy and sense of community between teacher and students and among students. In a climate where we ask the hasty result and in a competitive environment, we can not exercise creativity. We should provide a comfortable atmosphere and offer sufficient time for the exert of creativity. It is also preferable to present the concrete and specific purpose depending on the capacity of the student and to create an atmosphere of concentration.
Procedures for the exercise of creation can be found in all areas. We can use the writing which is one of the representative methods for the creativity exercise. The activity of writing allows us fundamentally to exercise creativity in the process of compose different words. We present here five different ways to write to exercise creativity. The exercise of the association is to produce sentences in a limited time with several pairs of two words. The exercise of the multi-facets thought is to create several sentences with one word. This exercise allows us to see things or phenomena in a integrative way. Composing a story with given words and recomposing another story with the same words, we can develope the compositional thinking capacity. We can make the exercise of originality in imagining and writing results on a hypothetical situation. The self-reflective writing on the memories of the past sometimes positive and sometimes negative can be utilized to the exercise of creativity in terms of change in self-esteem. These writing exercises are useful for the improvement of creativity, which is the theoretical and practical basis of the integrative education.
