正祖代 學術動向을 통해 본 尹行恁의「薪湖隨筆_『中庸』」 解釋의 特徵과 그 의미 (Judging from through the Academic Trend in the King Jeongjo's Era, the Features and that Meaning of Interpretation about Shin-ho-essay_Jung-yong)

초록

8세기 후반 正祖代에는 주자학, 양명학, 고증학 등 여러 방면에서 학문 활동이비교적 활발하게 이루어졌던 시기였다. 尹行恁은 正祖의 寵臣으로 주자학과 관련하여 조예가 깊었던 인물이다. 그는 韓元震의 학풍을 계승하였으며, 정조가 추구했던 ‘漢宋折衷論’과 궤를 같이하였다. 그의 경학가적 면모는 「薪湖隨筆」에서 보다뚜렷이 나타난다. 윤행임의 「신호수필_『중용』」은 단순히 『중용』해석에서만 그친 것이 아니라 주자학을 위협하는 학문들에 대응하고, 자신의 학문체계인 주자학의 미비점을 보완하며 더욱 발전시키는 데 그 목적이 있었다. 윤행임은 『중용』해석의 방법적 측면에서 『대학』과 『주역』을 대입시키는 등 전형적인 ‘以經證經’의 고증적 방식을 택한다. 그러나 이것은 어디까지나 고증학 자체를 수용한 것은 아니며, 다만 그공부방식의 일부를 활용한 형태로 주자의 『중용장구』를 체계적으로 분석하여 주자학을 더욱 공고히 하는 데 초점을 맞춘 것이다. 한편 내용적 측면에서는 陸․王學을 비판하고, 주자학 가운데 湖論 계열의 ‘人物性異論’을 주장하였다. 윤행임은 기본적으로 주자학을 제외한 나머지 학설들에 대하여 비판적인 입장을 가지고 있었으며, 그 오류를 지적하여 주자학의 당위성을 확보하려는 편에 서서 18세기 후반 조선학계 내의 주자학에 대한 입지를 다져나갔다. 윤행임의 「신호수필_『중용』」은 조선후기 학계의 학술동향을 파악하는 데 중요한 자료적 가치를 지니며, 아울러 18세기 후반 조선후기 학술사의 한 국면을 조명하는 좋은 지침이 될 것이다.

Literature activities such as orthodox Neo-Confucianism, the doctrines ofWang Yang-ming, Bibliographical Study of chinese Classics etc wereflourished in many ways in the late 18th century of king Jeongjo's era.
Yoon, Haeng-Im who was a favorite with the king Jeongjo had aprofound knowledge of orthodox Neo-Confucianism. he succeeded to Han,Won-Jin's academic traditions and then was in the same cycle as Eclecticismbetween Han and Sung's academic methods that King Jeongjo pursued.
「Shin-ho-essay」 shows his style of the literature for the Confucian classicsmore clearly.
「Shin-ho-essay_『Jung-yong』」 focused on not only interpretation of 『Jungyong』 but also the defense against the literatures that menaced orthodoxNeo-Confucianism. in addition it had also the purposes to complement theinsufficiency of orthodox Neo-Confucianism and improve it more.
When it comes to his interpretation way, he adopted ‘Verified ChineseClassics with themselves’ that is kind of the typical method of themethodology of historical research by mainly using 『Dae-hak』 and 『theBook of Changes』. however, it was not to adopt Bibliographical Study ofchinese Classics itself but to focus on solidifying orthodox Neo-Confucianismmore with systematic analysis of Zhu Ja's 『Jung-yong-jang-gu』. meanwhile,in the side of its contents, he criticized Lu․Wang study fairly and insistedon the theory of Ho department's The theory that human nature an animalnature are difference in the orthodox Neo-Confucianism. basically, he was on the critical position on the other theories except orthodox Neo-Confucianism and tried to consolidate his position in orthodox Neo-Confucianism within the Kingdom of Joseon's academic world by pointingout their mistakes in order to justify the orthodox Neo-Confucianism in thelate 18 century.
「Shin-ho-essay_『Jung-yong』」 is worth important research materials tounderstand the trend of academic areas in the late Joseon era. Besides, itwill be the good direction to illustrate and capture the side of aspects of theacademic history in the late 18th century.
